We're back at the Oval tomorrow and that means it's the return of the Glentoran Gazette ... and in the opinion of the editor it's the best one since he took over. If you grew up watching the Glens in the 90s, then two cult figures feature in this edition that will have you digging out your parka and strutting Liam Gallagher-esque down Mersey Street. In our regular 'Playing For Keeps' series, Philip Stevenson talks to Dutch maestro Guido Van de Kamp who, despite spending little more than a month at the Oval, is regarded as one of the best to ever pull on the Number One jersey.
It's third v fifth on matchday 16 of the Danske Bank Premiership with Glentoran facing Glenavon at the Oval. The sides met at Mourneview Park on 17th August with the East Belfast Glens winning 2-1. David Howland and David Scullion scored our goals on that occasion but both are currently on the injured list and along with Aaron Boyd, will sit tomorrow's game out.
GSC Meeting with the Directors.
The Board would like to invite 2 representatives of each Supporters Club to a meeting this Saturday at 2pm in the McLean Suite before our Danske Bank Premiership match v Glenavon.
This will be an opportunity for each Supporters Club to ask any questions about the running of the Club and follows an announcement at the last AGM by the Board to host meetings during the season with Supporters.
Ten man Glentoran moved into third place in the table after continuing their impressive run of form with this hard fought victory at Stangmore Park. Manager Eddie Patterson was forced into one change from last week’s trip to Ballymena, Stephen McAlorum coming in after suspension to replace Jim O’Hanlon who was suffering from a hamstring injury.

When Glentoran and Dungannon Swifts met in the Danske Bank Premiership at the Oval on Saturday 5th October the Swifts were in the top half of the table on 15 points, 5 ahead of Glentoran. The Glens, following a poor run of results in September, needed a win and they managed it. Goals from Marcus Kane and Mark Miskimmin gave us a 2-1 win and since then the team have recorded 3 wins and a draw to move onto 23 points and currently sit joint 3rd in the table. It’s been a different story for Dungannon Swifts though.
The Glentoran Academy would like to thank Delta Print & Packaging Ltd, (www.deltapack.com) for their kind and generous donation. This gesture is deeply appreciated by all at the Glentoran Academy and will help us to keep developing the Glentoran stars of the future. Without donations such as this, the Academy would not be able to expand and progress as it is doing at present.
Thank You again to Delta Print & Packaging Ltd.
Conditions weren’t the best at the Ballymena Showgrounds this afternoon but those who made the effort to attend were treated to an exciting game of football. Prior to kick-off a minute's silence was held in memory of Roy Coyle's grand-daughter, Darcy who passed away during the week.
