This week's Gazette

Fri, 20/09/2013 - 16:18

This week's Glentoran Gazette is a double issue to incorporate the Danske Bank Premiership clash with Ballymena United and Tuesday's Co Antrim Shield quarter final tie with Cliftonville.

In it, Eddie Patterson says the team must 'get back to basics' after 'letting themselves and the fans down' in the last two games against Crusaders and Cliftonville. Skipper Elliott Morris echoes that belief and feels they 'owe the fans a performance' but felt it important not to 'dwell too much on the results'.

Cover star Stephen McAlorum is the subject of our player interview by Sam Braik and here he states that there is no reason to be concerned about the lack of goals in the team so far this season.

In our regular 'Playing for Keeps' feature on Glentoran goalkeepers, Philip Stevenson talks to popular Welshman Wayne Russell on his time at the Oval, with the red-headed stopper waxing lyrical about the club and especially the supporters.

Jake Proctor's series on World Cup winners who have taken to the turf down Mersey Street way focuses on Belgium-born West Germany midfielder Herbert Wimmer.

Our latest Glens Top Tens comes from exile Gary Eaton who gives us his ten best games, while there's also a mystery anonymous bonus ten.

All that and the usual look at the visitors for both upcoming games, stats and match action.

Look out for our merry band of sellers on the forecourt.
