Amos volley secures opening day win for Glens

Danny Amos was the hero of the day, as his fantastic strike was enough to see off Portadown 1-0 at Shamrock Park and give Glentoran three points and the best possible start to the new Sports Direct Premiership campaign.

Under glorious sunshine in Co Armagh, it was far from a walk in the park for the east Belfast club, and early on they found themselves under pressure from the Ports.

Caldwell goal keeps Glens Women top

Glentoran Women remain two points clear at the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership after a 1–0 victory over Larne Ladies at the Danny Blanchflower Stadium.

The Glens dominated possession throughout but found chances hard to come by in the first half. The pattern continued after the break, with Aimee Kerr and Nadene Caldwell both heading narrowly wide before Caldwell broke the deadlock late in the second half to secure all three points.

The result keeps Glentoran Women at the summit with four league games remaining.

Skipper Kane targets winning start

Club captain Marcus Kane says Glentoran are determined to hit the ground running and get the 2025/26 Sports Direct Premiership season off to a flying start when they travel to Shamrock Park to face Portadown on Saturday 9 August (Kick-off: 3.00pm).

Now entering his 14th season at the BetMcLean Oval, Kane signed a new one-year contract over the summer, extending a remarkable spell that has seen him make 442 appearances and score 39 goals in Glentoran colours.

Glentoran pays tribute to Owen Gregg

Glentoran Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter Owen Gregg.

A proud Glens man, Owen’s love for the club began in childhood, attending matches at the BetMcLean Oval with his father, brothers and close family friends. That tradition continued with his own daughter Callie, with whom he travelled home and away, even during the most challenging moments of his illness.

Glentoran Women move top with win over Larne

Glentoran Women returned to the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership following a 4-1 win over Larne Women at Inver Park.

Kascie Weir opened the scoring after 17 minutes and doubled her tally nine minutes later to give Glentoran a two-goal lead at the break.

Ellie Butler added a third shortly after the restart, having come on at half-time, before Demi Vance converted from the penalty spot five minutes later to extend the advantage.

Aimee Neal Joins Shamrock Rovers

Glentoran Women can confirm that defender Aimee Neal has completed a move to SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division side Shamrock Rovers.

The 20-year-old centre back from Fivemiletown joined Glentoran Women ahead of the 2024 season from Sion Swifts, where she enjoyed League Cup success and featured in the 2022 Electric Ireland Cup Final against the Glens.

Everyone at Glentoran thanks Aimee for her contribution to the club and wishes her well as she begins this exciting new chapter with Shamrock Rovers.

Glens narrowly beaten in final pre-season outing

Glentoran wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 defeat against Limavady United at the Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

After a goalless first half, the hosts found the breakthrough in the second period to claim the win.

Declan Devine made full use of his squad, introducing Peter Urminsky, Dylan Connolly, Cal Weatherup, Jonny Russell, Aaron Wightman, Frankie Hvid, Ciaran Coll, Callan Farley, Liam Burt, Charlie Lindsay and James Douglas, with Josh Kelly replacing Joe Thomson late in the match.

Glentoran Women power past Derry City

Glentoran Women returned to winning ways on Wednesday evening with a 4-2 victory over Derry City Women in a lively encounter at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

The Glens took control midway through the first half when captain Jess Foy pounced at the back post to steer home a Demi Vance set-piece. Just four minutes later, Rachel Rogan doubled the lead with a composed finish inside the area after Derry failed to clear another dangerous Glentoran delivery.
