Glentoran Women bow out of Irish Cup

Glentoran Women’s bid to reclaim the Irish FA Women’s Challenge Cup came to an end on Friday evening as Linfield ran out 5–1 winners in the Quarter-Final at Midgley Park.

Two early goals left the Glens with work to do, but Mia Moore responded with an outstanding long-range finish to bring the tie back into contention. Moments later, the side came close to levelling when Demi Vance was denied from the penalty spot and an effort was cleared off the line in quick succession.

Glens starting to see best of McEleney

Glentoran’s commanding centre-back Shane McEleney believes supporters are beginning to see him at his best as the Glens prepare for Saturday’s Sports Direct Premiership clash with Crusaders at Seaview (Kick-off: 3.00pm).

The 34-year-old has delivered three commanding performances at the heart of the defence this season, helping Declan Devine’s side to three consecutive clean sheets and maximum points against Portadown, Bangor and Glenavon.

Glens Draw Lisburn Rangers in Cup Semi-Final

Glentoran Women will face Lisburn Rangers in the semi-finals of the ToalsBet.com Women’s County Antrim Cup.

Kim Turner’s side are the defending champions and booked their place in the last four with an impressive victory over Cliftonville in the previous round. The Glens will now look to take another step towards retaining the trophy as they continue their pursuit of silverware in 2025.

The other semi-final sees Linfield take on Crusaders in a north Belfast derby. Both ties are scheduled for Monday 8th September with a 7:45pm kick-off.

Jordan Stewart is loving life back at Glentoran but insists there is plenty more to come from both him and the team as the Glens prepare for Tuesday’s Sports Direct Premiership clash with Glenavon at the BetMcLean Oval (Kick-off: 7.45pm).

The 30-year-old forward produced a standout display in Saturday’s 1–0 win over Bangor, earning a standing ovation on his first competitive home appearance since rejoining the club over the summer.

Cooney strike maintains Glens’ unbeaten start

Glentoran continued their 100% start to the Sports Direct Premiership season with a battling 1-0 win over Bangor at the BetMcLean Oval.

The Glens sit second in the standings, just behind Carrick Rangers on goal difference after today’s victory.

It was Ryan Cooney who settled the game in the end with his second-half strike to ensure Declan Devine’s men enjoy a perfect start to the season.
