The Board of GFC1882 would like to thank John Moore on his resignation as Director.

John has given great service to Glentoran over 15 years. He was first elected to the board of Glentoran FC at the AGM in January 2010 as a representative of the Glentoran Community Trust and he served as a director  for nearly a decade through pivotal times in the club’s recent history from the 2011 club restructure through to the purchase of the club by Ali Pour in July 2019.  On completion of the sale of the club John served for a further 6 years as one of the founder directors on GFC1882.

Hoban double helps Glens begin Shield defence

Glentoran began the defence of their ToalsBet.Com County Antrim Shield title with a 3–1 victory over Ards at the BetMcLean Oval on Tuesday evening.

Declan Devine’s side lifted the trophy last season after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Larne in the final and they made a strong start to this year’s campaign thanks to a first-half brace from new signing Pat Hoban and a late strike from Jordan Jenkins.

Aaron Wightman joins Portadown on loan

Glentoran Football Club has announced that Academy graduate Aaron Wightman has joined Sports Direct Premiership side Portadown on loan until January 2026.

The 21-year-old right back, who has been with the Glens since the age of six, has made 74 senior appearances for the club and represented Northern Ireland at Under-19 level, earning seven caps.

He was a standout member of Glentoran’s celebrated 2004 Academy “Dream Team”, alongside first-team teammate Charlie Lindsay and Johnny Russell, before progressing through the ranks to make his senior debut in May 2021.

Callan Farley joins Warrenpoint Town on loan

Glentoran Football Club has announced that talented young defender Callan Farley has joined NIFL Championship side Warrenpoint Town on loan until 1st January 2026.

The 19-year-old Academy graduate returns to Milltown, where he enjoyed a highly successful spell during the second half of last season, making 14 appearances as Warrenpoint Town lifted the NIFL Premier Intermediate League title and secured promotion.

Fisher focused on shield defence

Glentoran forward David Fisher is determined to make up for lost time as the Glens begin the defence of their ToalsBet.Com County Antrim Shield crown with a Round One tie against Ards at the BetMcLean Oval on Tuesday 2nd September (Kick-off: 7.45pm).

Declan Devine’s side lifted the trophy last season after a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Larne at Seaview, ending a five-year wait for silverware and securing a first Shield success since 2010.

Stewart strike secures point for Glens

Glentoran played out a 1–1 draw with Carrick Rangers in horrendous conditions today at the BetMcLean Oval, as they remained top of the Sports Direct Premiership.

The Glens dominated possession but fell behind in the first half to a Paul Heatley strike, before Jordan Stewart levelled on the stroke of half-time for Declan Devine’s men.

After a slow start, it took 20 minutes for the first real efforts on goal – and three arrived in quick succession.
