Glens look to start 2013 in style

Mon, 31/12/2012 - 13:03

After Glentoran closed 2012 with a fantastic 5-0 victory over Donegal Celtic at The Oval on Saturday, The Glens look to build on that form into the new year as we face Coleraine at the Showgrounds this New Year's Day. With the recent pile-up of fixtures it is possible Eddie Patterson may rotate a few fresh legs in the squad. Thankfully due to the convincing performance on Saturday; Stephen Carson and Jimmy Callacher were able to be substituted however Jay Magee also was taken off on precaution after a niggle picked up in the game. Colin Nixon remains out after surgery.

Brilliant Glens bounce back in style

Sat, 29/12/2012 - 17:42

After Boxing Day's disappointment, Glentoran responded in the best possible way with a 5-0 win at The Oval against Donegal Celtic. The Glens only made one change with suspended Stephen McAlorum being replaced by Mark Clarke. The game started slowly for The Glens with Celtic going close early on after a dangerous cross was flashed across Elliott Morris' 6 yard box.

Glens look for bounce back win

Fri, 28/12/2012 - 11:38

After the heartbreaking defeat at Windsor Park on Boxing Day, Glentoran need to get the result out of their system fast, with the festive games coming up thick and fast. On Saturday, Donegal Celtic are the visitors to The Oval looking for just their third win of the season. Glentoran slipped to 5th after the Boxing Day defeat, with Linfield and Coleraine overtaking us.

Bar information for Saturday

Thu, 27/12/2012 - 15:14

We welcome Donegal Celtic to East Belfast and hopefully we can get a win following the disappointment of Boxing Day. After a great team performance against Linfield, we should all get behind the team and show the support we did on Wednesday afternoon.

The Premier Lounge will be open from 12:30pm and we have an early Premier League Match featuring Sunderland v Tottenham (12:45pm kick off) before we have live and exclusive coverage of Glentoran v DC at 3pm. Following that, we finish the day with another Barclays Premiership encounter featuring Arsenal v Newcastle United.

10 man Glens fall to late strikes

Wed, 26/12/2012 - 17:35

We’ll never know how this game would have turned out had it been 11 v 11 for 90 minutes. A moment of madness in the 5th minute left Glentoran with 10 players. All 10 (plus the 3 substitutes) put in a magnificent shift and manager, Eddie Patterson and the fantastic Glentoran support can be extremely proud of their performance. Ultimately though, it was another Boxing Day defeat and who knows how vital those points may turn out to be, come the end of the season.

Super Seconds win the Steel & Sons Cup

Tue, 25/12/2012 - 15:01

Glentoran Seconds defeated Ards 3-0 at Seaview this morning to lift the Steel & Sons Cup for the 14th time. The Seconds went in front just before halftime when Steven McCullough's cross-shot was headed home by Richard Gibson. Ards made 3 changes during the second period as they went in search of an equaliser but with 6 minutes remaining a long clearance out of defence was picked up by Carl McComb.
