When Glentoran and Dungannon Swifts met in the Danske Bank Premiership at the Oval on Saturday 5th October the Swifts were in the top half of the table on 15 points, 5 ahead of Glentoran. The Glens, following a poor run of results in September, needed a win and they managed it. Goals from Marcus Kane and Mark Miskimmin gave us a 2-1 win and since then the team have recorded 3 wins and a draw to move onto 23 points and currently sit joint 3rd in the table. It’s been a different story for Dungannon Swifts though.

Glentoran and Ballymena Utd played out a scoreless draw at the Oval back on 21st September. Glentoran went into that game on the back of defeats to both Crusaders and Cliftonville and the week later suffered a 2-1 loss at Portadown. Since then though the Glens have had 3 wins (Dungannon Swifts, Warrenpoint Town & Coleraine)and a draw (v Cliftonvile) to push them to within a couple of points off second place in the Danske Bank Premiership.
