Merry Christmas- and a Happy Boxing Day!

Mon, 24/12/2012 - 18:23

Christmas is the time of the year for family, togetherness and presents. However for fans of Irish League football, Christmas Day is also the day before the biggest day in the footballing calendar. Boxing Day sees all the local derby matches from across the country take place with the biggest attendances of the year out in force. As East Belfast tucks into turkey and stuffing tomorrow evening, no doubt Eddie Patterson as well as everyone else associated with the club, will have their minds on the Big Two derby on Boxing Day.

Good luck to the Seconds

Mon, 24/12/2012 - 14:31

Glentoran Seconds will be looking to bring the Steel & Sons Cup back to the Oval on Christmas Day. Spike Hill's young side have had a magnificent season to date and will be looking to keep up their momentum by lifting the Steel & Sons Cup.

Spike Hill and the team are looking for a big turn out of Glentoran fans to cheer the team on. Ards will probably go into the game as favourites but a large, noisy Glentoran support would certainly boost the Seconds. Kick off at Seaview is 10:45am.

Glens Face Ballymena Utd

Fri, 21/12/2012 - 15:25

A number of good performances on the pitch complied with yesterday's positive news off it has left Glentoran fans in high spirits this Christmas. After last week's dramatic victory against Portadown at Shamrock Park, Glentoran will be itching to get back out on the pitch and pick up three more points-especially with a certain Boxing Day fixture just around the corner. 3 points at Shamrock last week consolidated third place, 5 points behind second placed Crusaders and 12 off the pace set by Cliftonville.

Afriyie Acquah to Arsenal?

Sun, 16/12/2012 - 23:55

In 2007, Afriyie Acquah was one of the kids sponsored by Glentoran fans through a Glentoran Community Trust initiative. His talent was evident from an early stage and his profile, as featured in the Glentoran Gazette that season, said "he can be more than Michael Essien or Patrick Viera." A big ask!
