On Saturday we make our first visit of the season to Solitude.
Glentoran have waited 7 years to win a penalty shoot-out at the Oval....but we finally did it again last night.
The last time was back on 7th July 2011 when we defeated Macedonian side, FK Renova on penalties in a Europa League qualifying game.
Aaron Hogg was the goalkeeping hero that night, Elliott Morris having been red carded in the away leg when we lost 2-1 in Skopje.
Glentoran won the return game 2-1 thanks to a couple of spectacular goals from Richard Clarke and Martin Murray.
Glentoran beat Coleraine on penalties to reach the Quarter Finals of the Bet McLean League Cup after a 3-3 draw on Tuesday night at The Oval. Joe Crowe netted the decisive spot kick following a back and forth game in which both sides had periods of dominance.
Tuesday 30th October 2018, Kick Off 7.45pm
Our League Cup campaign continues on Tuesday night with the visit of Coleraine in the BetMcLean League Cup..
Coleraine have had a very mixed couple of weeks – a 1-0 win over Crusaders followed by a 2-1 loss to Cliftonville on Saturday, both matches at home – so they will come to the Oval looking to get back on track.
Sirocco Works 3-1 Glentoran
Goalscorer Ben Cushnie
Glentoran II exited the Steel and sons cup on Saturday with a below par performance at Sirocco.
Curtis Allen set the Glens on their way to 3 points with his 100th goal for the club in today's Danske Bank Premiership fixture against Ards at the Oval. Allen was on target again in the second half with Robbie McDaid and Marcus Kane getting the other goals.
Prior to our home match with Glenavon last week, members of the Victoria GSC presented the the 'Roy Manson ' Player of the Year Trophy on behalf of the club members.
Roy Manson was a long standing and distinguished member of the Victoria club, and brother of current Glentoran director Bill Manson. He sadly passed away five years ago.
Pictured with the 3 time winner Curtis Allen are members of Roy Manson's family - Gail , Edna , Robbie , Ellie , Robert , Joe along with Paul Meadows of Victoria GSC.
Tomorrow Glentoran Seconds play in their first Steel and Sons Cup Quarter Final since last winning the competition in 2012. The Wee Glens face Sirocco Works at Dixon Park with a place in the Semi Final up for grabs and we want to wish them well as they go in search of a spot in the last four.
The run to the Quarter Final has been eventful to date with a 9-2 win over St Patrick's Young Men at The Bangor Fuels Arena in which Paul O'Neill scored 6 times kicking off the competition.
Another home game this week and another top class edition of your multi-award winning Glentoran Gazette. Our history men dig into the archives, Brian McClelland relating part 1 of a story of a flawed genius from Glentoran’s past while Roy Downes tells of a trip to England’s Black Country. Thomas McCartney is On The Road to Mourneview Park, Eddy Patrick interviews visiting manager Colin Nixon and current captain Marcus Kane and also chats with Glentoran’s kit man Sean McManus. Kick Off 3pm
On Saturday we look to bounce back from what’s been a difficult October so far with the visit of Ards.
Ards currently sit tenth in the table but come to the Oval on the back of a surprise win over Linfield in Bangor. At our last meeting we had a fairly comfortable 2-0 away win with goals from John McGuigan and Curtis Allen.
