It’s back to the Oval tomorrow after a run of away games and another jam packed edition of the Glentoran Gazette. Our Italian Correspondent, Giampaolo Tassinari, takes us back to the 1979-80 season both here and in Italy, Henry Muldrew has a look at a much more recent event which could have far reaching consequences for the club, Thomas McCartney gives a Mid-Term Report on our Premiership rivals, John Grayden looks at the hot topic of referees and Brian McClelland pays tribute to one of the gentlemen of the game, Billy Neill. The Eddy Patrick interviews this week are with fellow midfielde
Saturday 1st December 2018, Kick Off 3.00pm
On Saturday we again take on League Champions Crusaders, this time in the Danske Bank Premiership.
The Crues are on a great run of form after a very poor start to the season, pretty much the opposite of how our season has progressed to date. They come here on the back of a last minute Rory Patterson penalty giving them a 3-2 home win over Institute last week and a 1-0 midweek home win against Larne in the County Antrim Shield.
Paul O'Neill - who scored a hat trick against Coleraine a couple of weeks ago - went one better with four goals tonight as the Wee Glens had an 8-0 away win over Dungannon Swifts U20s tonight. Stevie Gordon - another hat trick scorer last week - scored another two while Nigel Prentice and John Mcguigan - on his first game back from suspension - were also on the scoresheet.
A full report is on the U20s News page.
With Coleraine and Cliftonville both losing today, Glentoran had a chance to close the gap on the two teams immediately above us. We didn't take it! Dungannon Swifts were energetic and lively and outplayed us in alomst every department.
Saturday 24th November 2018, Kick Off 3pm
On Saturday we make our first visit of the season to Stangmore Park to play Dungannon Swifts.
Our last visit was a drab, scoreless draw in the last game of 2017 but no fewer than seven of the players who turned out for us that night have left the club. Our last meeting was a 2-1 win at the Oval with goals from Calum Birney and Curtis Allen.
Sean Gallagher, Stevie Gordon, Jack Henderson and Paul O'Neill were all on target tonight as the Wee Glens beat Coleraine 4-3 in their league match at the Oval.

It was Groundhog Day for the long suffering Glentoran supporters as another defensive error and a refereeing blunder seen us slump to another defeat in a game from which we probably deserved a point.
