Glens Academy at Ibrox

Last weekend, Glentoran U14's side sailed off to Glasgow to play a friendly match against Glasgow Rangers. Their weekend included a tour of the famous Ibrox Stadium as well as taking in a Rangers match before their own game at Murray Park-all in a jammed pack 24 hours! The trip was a fantastic experience for the boys and an experience they will no doubt not forget in a hurry. The highlight was of course was managing to defeat the Glasgow giants 1-0 on the floodlit pitch at Murray Park.

Seconds still on top

The Seconds continue to lead the way in the IFA Reserve League with 10 wins, 2 draws and just 1 defeat in their opening 13 games - league table HERE - scoring 47 goals and conceding just 18.

 

Following the 5-1 win at Portadown (match report HERE) the Seconds recorded a 3-2 win at Mourneview Park against Glenavon Reserves. Dickson Chisanga, Samuel McIllveen & Joe McKinney were the goal scorers.

KUKRI EXTEND PARTNERSHIP WITH GLENTORAN F.C.

Kukri Sports is delighted to announce an extension to its partnership with Irish Premiership club Glentoran F.C.  The deal which will run until the end of the 2014-15 season will see Kukri continue to provide all playing and training kit to the East Belfast club – who were the first top-flight local football club to wear Kukri kit when the partnership began in 2011.

Matty Irvine Superstar!

Many congratulations to young Academy player Matthew Irvine who yesterday won the IFA Search for a Star Competition.

After impressing in the heats and earning himself a place in the finals at Ashfield School 3G facility, Matty had to complete an afternoon of skill based drills and ball mastery tests under the watchful eye of the IFA judging panel.

For added pressure Matty was up against the selected best from around the country from as far out as Fermanagh in his age bracket of 2001 born players.

Glentoran v Dungannon Swifts- Preview

On the back of Monday night's disappointing exit from the Irn-Bru Cup, Glentoran are looking to bounce back with three points in the league this Saturday against Dungannon Swifts at The Oval. The Glens have worryingly slipped out of the top half of the Danske Bank Premiership into 7th after the 1-1 draw with league leaders Cliftonville last weekend. This slip also saw arch-rivals Linfield overtake us for the first time this season. Dungannon are the visitors this weekend as we look to respond to the recent slump in form with victory tomorrow.

Glentoran Remembers

The Board of Directors have confirmed the arrangements planned for this year's Act of Remembrance to be held on Saturday at our home game with Dungannon Swifts.

In conjunction with the Glentoran Community Trust and as a development of the permanent memorial to our former goalkeeper Thomas Pearson, who was killed in action in North Africa in 1942, his full citation will be permanently displayed at the Directors entrance. The unveiling of this, coupled with the laying of two wreaths, one by a director and the other by a supporter will take place at this spot at 2.30pm.

Super Seconds into Steel semi

Glentoran Seconds will face Ballyclare Comrades in the semi-final of the Steel & Sons Cup at Seaview on Friday 30th November after a 3-nil victory over Lisburn Rangers at Wilgar Park last Saturday.

The Seconds kicked off their Steel & Sons Cup campaign with a 3-1 win over Ballymena Utd Reserves in Round 2 and followed that up with an emphatic 5-nil win over Sirocco Works. In Round 4 they recorded a 2-nil win over Wellington Rec before coming up against Paul Kirk's Lisburn Rangers in the quarter-final.
