Seconds still on top

Thu, 15/11/2012 - 23:55

The Seconds continue to lead the way in the IFA Reserve League with 10 wins, 2 draws and just 1 defeat in their opening 13 games - league table HERE - scoring 47 goals and conceding just 18.

Following the 5-1 win at Portadown (match report HERE) the Seconds recorded a 3-2 win at Mourneview Park against Glenavon Reserves. Dickson Chisanga, Samuel McIllveen & Joe McKinney were the goal scorers.

That was followed by a 9-2 win over Dungannon Swifts Reserves at the Oval on Wednesday 24th October. Eamonn Murray, making a return from injury, got 2 of the goals with the others coming from Martin Murray (2), Samuel McIllveen, Stevie Gordon, Carl McCombe, Joe McKinney and an own goal.

Surprisingly they then dropped 2 points at Lisburn Distillery in a 3-3 draw (McComb, Gibson & an own goal) but got back to winning ways again last Saturday when they travelled to Stangmore Park and won 5-2. Having gone 2 down in this game the Seconds pulled one back through Jordan Stewart, levelled through Richard Gibson and managed to go in at half time leading 3-2 (Gibson again). Gibson set up Stewart early in the second half and Stevie Gordon netted a fifth after great work by Daniel Burns.

This Saturday the Seconds entertain Lisburn Distillery II’s at the Oval with kick-off at 2pm.
