Glentoran Remembers

Thu, 08/11/2012 - 23:13

The Board of Directors have confirmed the arrangements planned for this year's Act of Remembrance to be held on Saturday at our home game with Dungannon Swifts.

In conjunction with the Glentoran Community Trust and as a development of the permanent memorial to our former goalkeeper Thomas Pearson, who was killed in action in North Africa in 1942, his full citation will be permanently displayed at the Directors entrance. The unveiling of this, coupled with the laying of two wreaths, one by a director and the other by a supporter will take place at this spot at 2.30pm.

Our club Chaplain, the Rev David Thompson, will then say a few words and lead a short prayer.

A minutes silence will be observed prior to kick off and the team will wear armbands with the image of a poppy and the very apt phrase - Glentoran Remembers.

We hope as many of our supporters and local community as possible will join with us in marking this solemn occasion.
