Palmer focused on three points

Glentoran midfielder Cameron Palmer insists the focus is firmly on performance and three points as the Glens prepare to welcome Linfield to the BetMcLean Oval on Friday night for the first “Big Two” clash of the 2025/26 Sports Direct Premiership campaign.

Declan Devine’s side have made a flying start to the campaign, collecting five wins and a draw from their opening six Sports Direct Premiership fixtures that sees the Glens sitting at the top of the table with the league’s best defensive record.

Glens Women exit County Antrim Cup on pens

Glentoran Women were narrowly beaten by Lisburn Rangers in the County Antrim Cup Semi-Final at Crewe Park, losing 4-1 on penalties after the game finished 2-2 in normal time.

Rangers opened the scoring in the first half, but the Glens equalised shortly before the break when a Demi Vance corner was diverted into the net by a Lisburn defender. The hosts restored their advantage after the interval, only for Mia Moore to strike late on and force the tie to penalties.

In the shoot-out, Lisburn converted four spot-kicks to Glentoran’s one, securing their place in the Final.

Glens draw Carrick in County Antrim Shield

Glentoran will face Carrick Rangers in the Quarter Final of the ToalsBet.Com County Antrim Shield, with the tie scheduled for Tuesday 14th October 2025 at Taylor’s Avenue.

Declan Devine’s side began their defence of the trophy with a Round One victory over Ards and will now look to take another step towards retaining the silverware they lifted last season after a dramatic penalty shoot-out triumph over Larne in the final at Seaview.

Should the Glens progress, they will meet the winners of the Ballymacash Rangers v Larne. 

Hoban and Jenkins on target as Glens stay top

Glentoran extended their unbeaten start to the Sports Direct Premiership season with a 2–0 victory over Ballymena United at The Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

Declan Devine’s side struck twice inside the opening quarter of an hour, with Pat Hoban netting his first league goal for the club before turning provider for Jordan Jenkins. The result keeps the Glens three points clear at the top of the table after six games.

Devine named NIFWA Manager of the Month

Glentoran manager Declan Devine has been named NIFWA Manager of the Month for August after guiding the Glens to an outstanding start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Devine’s side collected 13 points from a possible 15 across the opening month, recording four wins and one draw in their first five Premiership fixtures.

The Glens secured four consecutive clean sheets in victories over Portadown, Bangor, Glenavon and Crusaders, before being held to a 1–1 draw at The BetMcLean Oval by Carrick Rangers.

Glentoran Women secured a vital three points in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership on Wednesday night with a 2–1 victory over Lisburn Rangers at Crewe Park, keeping the Glens two points clear at the top of the table.

On her first return to her former club, Northern Ireland U19 international Faye Loughran delivered the decisive moment, doubling Glentoran’s advantage just four minutes after the restart to ultimately seal the win.

Glens draw Institute in BetMcLean Cup

Glentoran have been drawn away to Institute in the First Round of the 2025/26 BetMcLean Cup.

The tie is scheduled to be played on Tuesday 7 October 2025 at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

Glentoran will be looking to go one better this season, having fallen short in last season’s final against Cliftonville.

Further details such as ticketing information and confirmed kick-off time will be released in due course.

Hoban targets more goals

Glentoran striker Pat Hoban has his sights firmly set on adding to his goal tally this weekend as the Glens travel to the Ballymena Showgrounds to face Ballymena United in the Sports Direct Premiership on Saturday (Kick-off: 3.00pm).

The prolific frontman announced himself to the Glentoran faithful in style on his first start for the club on Tuesday night, netting twice in a 3–1 County Antrim Shield win over Ards.
