Glentoran Remembers 2019

Sun, 10/11/2019 - 23:09

On Saturday, prior to leaving for our away match at Institute, Glentoran management, players, officials and supporters conducted an Act of Remembrance at the Thomas Pearson M.M. memorial at the Oval to remember the fallen and to commemorate the101st Anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War One. The service was conducted by Rev. Drew Gibson.

Below are a number of photographs from the event. A video of the full service can be seen here

Institute 1-1 Glentoran

Sat, 09/11/2019 - 21:18

It's six games unbeaten for Glentoran but unfortunately not six consecutive wins. On a horrendous day weather wise, the journey to the North West was extended for players, officials and supporters by road closures. However it didn't take long for the Glens to get into their stride and within the first 10 minutes we witnessed a Robbie McDaid header flash wide of the post and then Rory Brown in the 'Stute goal did well to keep out a free kick from Hrvoje Plum. On 11 minutes a long, raking pass from Patrick McClean put Marcus Kane clear on the left.

Alternative travel suggestions to Brandywell Stadium on Saturday

Wed, 06/11/2019 - 20:36

We have been advised by Institute FC that part of the main Belfast to Londonderry will be closed on Saturday for road works. This will have an impact on travelling time to the Brandywell so our supporters are encouraged top leave at least 30 minutes earlier than normal.

During the closure a diversion will be in place. Institute have suggested the following revised route:

Warrenpoint Town 0-4 Glentoran

Sat, 02/11/2019 - 21:04

When we last faced Warrenpoint Town a number of weeks ago at the Oval we dominated the first half and should have led by more than a solitary goal at the interval. In the second half 'Point punished our wayward finishing and grabbed an equaliser. They were ultimately denied however by a very late goal from Patrick McClean.

Saturday's Danske Bank fixture at Milltown once again saw Glentoran dominate the opening 45 minutes. On this occasion however we scored four goals without reply and there would be no reply from the South Down outfit.

McClean is October Player of the Month

Fri, 01/11/2019 - 10:18

Patrick McClean, runner up for his first two months at the club, has gone one better to win the supporter vote as Glentoran Player of The Month for October.

In an overwhelming win, Paddy won 60% vote, in a month where he was the absolute epitome of consistency as we won four of the five games Paddy started. The month was capped by his incredible late winner at Larne and the signing of a contract extension for a further two years.
