More international recognition for Cricky and Paul

Sun, 10/11/2019 - 20:15

Congratulations to our young first team stars Paul O'Neill and Cricky Gallagher on being called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad for the upcoming games against Hungary and Romania . Cricky was first called up to the squad at this level late last season along with Nathan Kerr while Paul was in the last squad in September.

Cricky said of his call-up: "Im delighted to be called back into the 21s squad and Im looking forward to the two games. We need big performances that will hopefully help us get positive results. It's always a nice feeling to get called up as it shows my hard work and performances are being noticed. It took me a while to get my chance in the team this season and I had to be patient. So when I was given the opportunity I had to grab it with both hands and I think I’ve shown my quality and what I am able to provide for the team. So hopefully I can keep the momentum going and continue to impress the management to keep my spot".

Paul: "It’s such a big achievement to get called up to represent Northern Ireland at this level, so it’ll be a great experience to play at a top level against top players from over the world. I'm looking forward to getting my chance to show what I can do."

Mick McDermott said of the boys: "I'm delighted for both Paul and Chris and I know they both thoroughly deserve these call ups through their performances for our first team this season. Paul has shown great ability since I arrived. His work ethic and pace are great assets. Also he has a very positive personality and will play a big part of our project here. Chris did very well for us last season and had to bide his time this season. He did that, trained well and in  recent weeks has had his just reward for that patience. In the last few games in particular he has really shown his quality."

Well done Paul and Cricky and good luck from everyone at Glentoran.
