George Wilson Cup Final - TONIGHT

Wed, 14/05/2014 - 07:24

Glentoran Seconds will play Ballinamallard Reserves in the final of the George Wilson Cup on Wednesday 14th May at Seaview.

Seconds manager, Spike Hill spoke to glentoran.com about the game....

Can you inform us how you reached the final?

"We came out of the group stages with a 0-0 draw against Crusaders and good wins against Ards and Warrenpoint Town which matched us with Linfield in the semi final. We ran out 1-0 winners courtest of a John McGuigan penalty. So far in the competition we haven't conceded a goal, let's hope that continues in the final."

Fri, 09/05/2014 - 20:49

An update on the Boxing event to be held on Thursday 15th May.

As it happens organisation of the event has proved quite a challenging exercise. From an initial interest before Christmas of 14 first team players, the list has shortened considerably as one by one, for a variety of reasons, a number of players have withdrawn from the event. We have also just this week had the withdrawal of Terence Brannigan.

The U16 development team ended the season on a high winning 3-0 against St Patricks in the South Belfast cup final on Tuesday night.

The team stuck to their game plan and kept it tight instead of their usual attacking flowing football.

They denied St Pats many chances and caught them on the break with a ball played from the back through midfield to Jack Mallin who scored after 12 minutes.

Glens Under 14s Win Irish Cup!

Tue, 06/05/2014 - 00:08

Glentoran Under 14s travelled to Ballymoney on May Day to play in the Northern Ireland Boys FA Cup Final.

The Glens extra time victory over Linfield in the Semi Final at Seaview a month ago set up the Final clash with Limavady Youth, who had knocked out Ballymena United in their Semi Final.

Limavady, fresh from clinching promotion to the National League A Section where they will face the Glens in league action next season, started the game brightly with a gale force win at their backs.
