Glentoran U16's Win Cup

Wed, 07/05/2014 - 15:44

The U16 development team ended the season on a high winning 3-0 against St Patricks in the South Belfast cup final on Tuesday night.

The team stuck to their game plan and kept it tight instead of their usual attacking flowing football.

They denied St Pats many chances and caught them on the break with a ball played from the back through midfield to Jack Mallin who scored after 12 minutes.

The lads were under pressure but got another break away for Daniel Hamilton to slot home 2-0 half time.

St Pats piled on the pressure 2nd half but the Glentoran backline were excellent.

The 3rd goal was scored in the in the last minute by Jack McLaren which broke St Pats hearts who showed great sportsmanship at the end.

This development squad have made huge improvements this season, only being together 9 months with some players moving up to the national/colts squad next season.

SBYL committee voted Lex Walker man of the match.

Well done Glentoran U16’s!
