Ballinamallard United v Glentoran

Saturday 13th January 2018, 3.00pm.

On Saturday we make our second visit of the season to Ferney Park, just a month after our return match with Ballinamallard was postponed.  On our visit to Ferney Park for the league opener we won 2-1 due to a double from Curtis Allen. Nothing less than three points will suffice this time with Ballymena United – currently one point ahead of us in sixth place – at home to Carrick Rangers.

Lurgan Celtic 1-2 Glentoran

Sat, 06/01/2018 - 17:19

Despite a late goal for the home side, Glentoran progressed comfortably into the 6th round of the 2018 Tennents Irish Cup. Leading 2-nil at the break the Glens wasted a number of chances in the second half to put the game to bed and the travelling support had to endure a nervous few minutes after Aaron Rodgers netted in the 90th minute.

Calum is December's Top Man

Fri, 05/01/2018 - 23:34

Calum Birney has won the Glentoran Supporters Player of the Month award for December. In what was a tough month for the Glens, Calum was consistently effective in a strong defence in which he was ever present. He was a clear winner of the supporters’ poll with 33% of the vote. It was also a month when he committed his future to Glentoran until May 2021, despite strong interest from a number of other clubs.

Lurgan Celtic v Glentoran

Irish Cup Round Five

Knockramer Park, Lurgan

Saturday 6th January 2018, 1.30pm kick off.

A new experience as we travel to Knockramer Park to face Lurgan Celtic in the Irish Cup Fifth Round.

This is the first time we have faced Lurgan Celtic in a competitive fixture, although we played them at the Oval in July 2016 as part of the deal to transfer Chris Lavery to Glentoran. On that occasion we won 1-0 with Lavery appropriately scoring the winner.

Player of the Month

Wed, 03/01/2018 - 13:10

This season, for the first time, there will be a Glentoran Player Of The Month, voted on by Glentoran supporters. The poll will appear following the last game of each calendar month and the winner announced on this website early the following month. Just place your vote beside your choice. Voting closes at 11.59pm on Friday 5th January with the winner announced the following day.

Glentoran 0-0 Warrenpoint Town (match abandoned after 45 minutes)

Tue, 02/01/2018 - 22:03

Glentoran's Danske Bank fixture against Warrenpoint Town was called off at halftime due to severe weather conditions. The match officials and the Glentoran Event Safety manager agreed shortly after the halftime whistle that the game should be abandoned in the interests of safety of both players and spectators.

It is to the immense credit of Glentoran's groundsman, William Kirkwood, that the game even got started. William's superb work on the Oval playing surface over the past few seasons meant that despite the heavy rain, the pitch was passed fit for play.

Glentoran v Warrenpoint Town

Tuesday 2nd January 2018, 7.45pm kick off.

Warrenpoint Town visit the Oval for the second time this season, in tenth place and on a run of eight league games without a win.

We’ve won both matches we’ve played this season – a 2-0 home win in September through goals from Curtis Allen and Robbie McDaid and a 2-3 victory at Milltown in late November when goals from Daniel Kelly (2) and Tiarnan McNicholl saw us through in a tense match after we lost an early two goal lead.
