The Stangmore Park ground passed an 11am pitch inspection but the 90+ minutes of this afternoon's Danske Bank Premiership game won't live long in the memory.
Dungannon Swifts v Glentoran
Saturday 30th December, 3.00pm.
This Saturday we look to build on our Boxing Day “Big Two” victory with another win on our second visit of the season to Stangmore Park.
Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that our longest serving player, Elliott Morris, this week signed an extension to his current contract. That means Elliott is now committed to Glentoran until the end of the 2019/20 season. This is a great boost to the club, particularly since Elliott has won the vote for Supporters’ Player of the Month for the past three consecutive months, setting a great example to his younger, less experienced team mates.
Glentoran ended a run of four games without a win in the best possible style with a Robbie McDaid injury time Boxing Day winner over Linfield.
At 2.45pm. before our Boxing Day match with Linfield, Glentoran will be proud to honour three men who played an active and often highly successful part in Big Two battles over the course of forty years – Our surviving Championship winning managers – Roy Coyle, Tommy Jackson and Ronnie McFall. The three managers – who between them managed the club to no fewer than 39 trophies – will be formally inducted into the Glentoran 250 Club and receive honorary life membership of the club.
Due to the hard work of our selfless volunteers and the incredible generosity of Glentoran supporters, the Glentoran Christmas Homeless Appeal 2017 finished on December 21st again played its part in providing a better Christmas for some of the less fortunate in our city. This year the appeal had three strands: 1. Players, staff, volunteers and club directors visited the Stella Maris and Welcome Centre Hostels, bringing wrapped presents of gift sets and boxes of chocolates. 2.
Our Boxing Day game with Linfield is now completely sold out. We regret that no more tickets will be available and remind everyone that admission will be strictly by ticket only. Thank you and have a very Happy Christmas.
Glentoran failed to beat Carrick Rangers for the 3rd time this season, conceding a last minute equaliser to the home side in today's Danske Bank Premiership game.
Despite controlling the first half and going into the break with a one goal advantage, Glentoran's tactic of sitting back in the second half and inviting pressure eventually cost them victory at Taylor's Avenue.
