Glentoran Academy is delighted to announce Robert Watson and Adam Bridgnell to the positions of Player Pathway Officer. Pictured here with Academy Development Manager Stephen Lowry, both guys have accepted very important roles in helping us to ensure all players and teams are regularly reviewed and assisted in areas that will help our coaches with their workload. Their roles will involve attending Academy training sessions and matches & providing feedback to management on players and team performance at both our elite and development streams, as well as Talent ID.
Following our story on Thursday evening about 10-year old Kodi Brown (sister of our young Academy player, Blake), we are pleased to announce that as part of the club’s efforts to help Kodi and her family, there will be a bucket collection at our home match v Cliftonville.
As outlined in the previous article, Kodi has a brain tumour. She is presently in Germany receiving ground breaking treatment not available in the UK. This essential treatment comes at an enormous cost and is expected to last for 6 months.
Following discussions with the management team on Thursday evening, Conall Delaney has had his contract terminated by mutual consent and has left the club to seek regular first team opportunities elsewhere.
Conall joined us in 2016 after spells with Glenavon and Crusaders. He made his debut in March 2017 in a 4-2 win at Ballymena Showgrounds. He made 19 first team appearances, 13 of them last season.
We thank Conall for his hard work and commitment to the club over the past two seasons and wish him all the best in his future career.

The NI Football League is delighted to launch the new Premiership Academy League starting this season!
The Academy League will see the introduction of two new development leagues for Under 16 and Under 18 teams to improve the pathway to the existing Under 20 Premiership Development League ahead of the 2018/2019 season.
On a very sad note, one of our young Academy players, Blake Brown who plays for our U10s team, has missed the last couple of months football as his 10 year old sister has been very ill. Heartbreakingly his mum and dad received the news that Kodi has a brain tumour. She is presently in Germany receiving ground breaking treatment not available in the UK.
On Wednesday 25th July our commercial manager Simon Wallace met Rodney Leiper at The Oval to welcome him as he reached us on his six day mission cycling to the ground of all 24 clubs in the NIFL premiership and championship in aid of the charity Aware NI.
Cycling over 600 miles shis is a great achievement, for a great cause, well done Rodney. You can keep up to date with his journey on his Facebook page here.
In July 2018 Peter McCreery (Ruth's Superstore team) travelled to Tanzania with a group of teenagers from NI to volunteer with the charity in Tanzania.
Glentoran FC were asked to make a donation and we were only to happy to send Peter off with a few Home shirts and infant kits from 16/17 season.
Many of our supporters also helped Peter by sponsoring his abseil down Europa hotel on 10th June. This sponsorship helped cover the costs associated with the trip.
