Cup Final countdown continues at Seaview

Fri, 19/04/2013 - 14:10

As the season draws close to a finish, all thoughts in East Belfast are starting to turn to the Irish Cup Final in two weeks time on 4th May. However before that, we have two Danske Bank Premiership games to play in order to complete this roller-coaster of a season. This Saturday, Glentoran travel to 2nd place Crusaders, reeling from their title defeat and Irish Cup semi-final defeat both by Cliftonville.

Another Cup Final

Thu, 18/04/2013 - 23:08

It's not just the 1st team who have a cup final to look forward to. Tonight the Glentoran Academy Under 15's booked their place in the final of the Lisburn Cup with a 2-0 victory over Lower Maze. A delighted coach, Lenny Scott had this message for his players; "Keep up the good work lads and lets stick together and get the rewards your hard work this season deserves."

Good luck to the U15's in the final. We'll advise you of the date and venue when we have it.

Champions humbled by Glens

Tue, 16/04/2013 - 22:50

Ok, the Cliftonville side put on show at The Oval tonight weren't exactly the Champions select which scored 91 goals in the Danske Bank Premiership this season but as Eddie Patterson will no doubt be saying this evening, you can only beat the quality of opposition placed in front of you. Cliftonville sent a largely understrength team out to The Oval tonight giving their regulars a rest after winning The Gibson Cup on Saturday against Linfield. Only Jaimie McGovern, Martin Donnelly, Stephen Garrett and James Knowles appeared from the regular starting Cliftonville side.

Cup Finalists Clash at Oval

Tue, 16/04/2013 - 14:03

On 4th May at Windsor Park Glentoran and Cliftonville will be taking part in the biggest game in the calendar, however tonight the two teams get an opportunity to see their Cup Final opponenents in advance. The Glens host the recently crowned Danske Bank Premiership Champions at The Oval 7.45pm kick off. The game bares little significance in the league context with Cliftonville already past the major number to bring the Gibson Cup to North Belfast. For Glentoran the game still holds a degree of importance with Coleraine only two points behind us in the table.
