Carrick Rangers 0-2 Glentoran

Wed, 30/07/2014 - 22:03

Glentoran won their latest pre-season game 2-0 at Taylor's Avenue, Carrickfergus this evening. Jim O'Hanlon put the Glens in front with a neat finish after 13 minutes. Stand-in goalkeeper, Chris Keenan then did well to prevent a Carrick Rangers equaliser before the home side hit the upright on 25 minutes. Mark Miskimmin thought he'd doubled Glentoran's advantage on the half hour mark but the goal was ruled out for offside. Jordan Stewart was then unlucky to see his effort deflected onto the post on 36 minutes.

What a month for the Glentoran Academy! Dominating at the Foyle Cup and now this...

Six of our 2001 born players start in the Northern Ireland International team that defeated Man United in the Under 13 Milk Cup Final on Saturday evening. Congratulations to Lewis McGarvey, Ethan Warnock, Ben Cushnie, Paul McLaughlin, Ethan Galbraith and Christopher Conn. All 6 starred at the UEFA Cup for Glentoran in Berlin recently too. The future is certainly bright for The Glens!

Today at the Oval

Sun, 27/07/2014 - 21:22

We'd a few former players present at the game today when Glentoran took on Scottish Premiership side, Partick Thistle, at the Oval.

Left to right are Ron Manley, Gary Smyth, Billy Caskey, Roy Coyle, Victor Moreland and Johnny Jamison. As Roy Coyle was heard to say, "Not a bad wee 6-a-side team!" There's no goalkeeper but they could probably do without.

Between them they have:

1852 appearances for Glentoran.

446 goals for Glentoran.

19 full international caps.

2 full international goals.

Dundela 0-1 Glentoran

Thu, 24/07/2014 - 23:49

Glentoran came out on top in tonight's friendly game.

In extremely hot conditions, Glentoran and Dundela gave many of their squad members a run out in the traditional 'East Belfast' derby match. Fra McCaffrey scored the only goal of the game in the second half.
