Cliftonville 0-0 Glentoran

Sun, 10/08/2014 - 10:38

Saturday afternoon finally came and Irish League football made its long awaited return with hundreds of Glenmen turning the away end red, green and black at Solitude today. They weren't treated to quite the spectacle they might've hoped for but a point against the champions away from home on the first day is hardly a result many connected with Glentoran were going to argue with come 5pm today.

Glentoran Women In Europe

Sat, 09/08/2014 - 20:01

Glentoran/BU (GBU) lost their 1st match in the UEFA Women's Champions League Qualifier Tournament to the Ukrainian champions FC Zhilstroy 5-0. The result does not truly reflect the game which was ultimately decided by the more incisive finishing of the Ukrainians as GBU spurned  open goal chances. The first chance occurred in the 1st minute as Nina Montgomery went agonisingly close to slotting the ball home from a Lauren Wade cross. Equally Gail Macklin failed to convert a Demi Vance thunderbolt which had beaten the Ukrainian keeper but rebounded off the crossbar.

Glens start season at Solitude

Fri, 08/08/2014 - 23:13

It's that time of the year again!

The World Cup offered a slight reprieve to a summer without football but there's no feeling quite like going to bed on a Friday night knowing that there will be a game tomorrow and every other Saturday for the next eight months.

After a strong finish to last season Glentoran will be hoping to kick on this year- and what a start it will be with a trip to the champions Cliftonville tomorrow followed by the first Big Two meeting of the season at The Oval on Wednesday night against Linfield.
