Glens comfortably see off Swifts

Sat, 08/09/2012 - 18:47

As the sun split the skies in Dungannon, Glentoran continued where they left off in Ballinamallard with a comfortable 3-1 victory in Dungannon this afternoon. The Glens started brightly with Jay Magee heading over from a Stephen Carson corner early on. Andy Waterworth has been in fine form of recent and showed his current confidence by outpacing the Dungannon defence only to fire into the side netting soon after.

"130" Goalkeeper's Shirt

Thu, 06/09/2012 - 10:47

We’ve had a few enquiries about the 130 goalkeeper’s shirt since last week, so now that the votes are in we thought we’d give you a sneak preview. The shirt, once again designed by Clifford Logan, nods in acknowledgement to that wonderful evening 35 years ago this autumn when the Italian millionaires of Juventus arrived in east Belfast.

Glentoran Legends continue their fantastic charity work

Wed, 05/09/2012 - 22:06

The Glentoran Legends travelled up to the North Coast on Sunday 26th August to face a Portstewart Oldies XI in a special fundraiser in aid of the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

Despite a somewhat smaller panel than usual the Legends managed to overcome their opponents by a 4-2 scoreline, thanks to a hat-trick from Justin McBride and the other from guest for the day Johnny Wray. The most important thing from the days efforts was another excellent amount raised for the charity, with over £600 raised on the day and more to come in.

Well done to everyone.

And the winner is....

We are delighted to announce that the Glentoran supporter who will push the button to begin production of the Glentoran 130th anniversary shirt is East Belfast man Craig Gamble. Craig purchased shirt 9/130 and his number was drawn out by Glentoran manager Eddie Patterson prior to our game against Ballinamallard.  Craig will now join us at the headquarters of Kukri  Ireland, where he will be asked to start the production process.  As part of his prize Craig will travel to and from Kukri’s Lisburn headquarters courtesy of our friends at fonaCab.

Glens hit 4 in Ballinamallard

Wed, 05/09/2012 - 00:11

Despite being unbeaten in the Danske Bank Premiership so far this season, Glentoran started nervously against Ballinamallard at Ferney Park and could have gone behind early on. In the opening minute, hesitation from Elliott Morris allowed Andy Crawford to steal the ball from him but the striker failed to find the target. Chris Curran got the better of Marcus Kane in the 3rd minute before going down in the area but referee, Hetherington waved away the penalty claims.
