Under 15 & Under 16 players wanted for Glentoran Academy

Mon, 27/05/2019 - 21:46

Due to the incredible success of our 2004 group we are currently looking to recruit players for next seasons U15 National League ‘A’ and U16 NIFL Premiership Development League squads.

Our player development plan will see a lot of the current successful 2004 squad progressing to the U18 and uU0s and therefore there is a great opportunity for 2004 and 2005 born players to join this exciting age group.

Our current 2005 team enjoyed a very successful season themselves, earning promotion to the A section of the National League.

A club spokesperson said this evening; “On the appointment of Mick McDermott as Head Coach both Paul and Gary Smyth were offered and encouraged to accept continued employment on the same terms as before while supported by the club in securing their necessary coaching qualifications. Sadly, they declined to be part of the next stage of the club’s development. Everyone within the club deeply regrets their decision.

Another League Title for Glens 2004 Squad

Mon, 20/05/2019 - 21:41

Glentoran's magnificent 2004 age group were up to their old tricks again on Saturday as they secured yet another league championship with a 4-0 win over rivals Linfield.

The 2004s have had a more challenging season than in recent years with the whole squad having played many games at Under 16 and most of them having represented the U18s. Seven of them have even played in the U20s this season. This meant that they had to run with low numbers and rarely named the same team twice in a row - often playing games missing several regular players.
