Glentoran Women dropped their first points of the campaign as two goals in the final twenty minutes from Sion Swifts rescued a point at the Melvin Sports Complex.
After a scoreless first half, Diarmuid O’Carroll's Glens looked to be on their way to three points thanks to two goals from Demi Vance.
However, the Strabane-based hosts, who eliminated Linfield from the League Cup two days earlier, struck back through Tyler Toland and Lauren Brennan to rescue a point.
Glentoran Football Club confirms that it has called an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of its shareholders, to take place in two weeks’ time.
The purpose of the EGM is to seek shareholder approval on a proposed investment into the Club by a UK-based consortium, led by Welshman Ali Pour. This will involve a restructure of the club, if approved.
Glentoran Women swept to a convincing five-goal victory over Comber Rec. Ladies in the League Cup quarter-finals.
It took the Glens 32 minutes to open the scoring with Nadene Caldwell getting on the end of a Demi Vance corner following a sustained period of pressure.
Five minutes before the break, Vance was the provider again with another inch-perfect corner and this time it was Sarah Gamble who rose the highest to get her head to it and double the Glens lead.
Prior to yesterday's final home match of the season, Robbie McDaid was presented with the Glentoran Player of the Year award by senior officers of the Catlereagh Glentoran Supporters Club, long time organisers of the award.
22-year old Robbie has scored 14 goals this season, despite spending a lot of the season in an unfamiliar wide position. To date he has scored 25 goals from 71 appearances since signing after returning from England in August 2017. He was a convincing winner of this year's award with 50% of the overall vote.
Today's final home game of the season was put in doubt as Storm Hannah arrived in Northern Ireland overnight; rain and wind sweeping over our old East Belfast Oval stadium. Things looked pretty bleak around 11:30am but thanks to our hard working groundsman, William Kirkwood, ably assisted by finance director, Richard McGuinness and a small team of helpers we were good to go by 3pm.
Our final home game of the season and another bumper edition of the Glentoran Gazette to keep you reading well after the final whistle. Rosie Moore has a movie review with a Glentoran connection, Henry Muldrew gives his slant on an unexpected pairing in the Irish Cup Final and Brian McClelland looks back at a Scot who made a big impact at the Oval. Thomas McCartney is On The Road again, this time to Warrenpoint, Eddy Patrick interviews Andy Mathieson and Joe Crowe while John Grayden chats to Gavin Peers as well as looking ahead to next season. All that plus the thoughts of Mick McDermott
Robbie McDaid has been voted Glentoran 'Player of the Year' for 2018-19 by the club’s supporters. Castlereagh GSC organised the vote at Tuesday evening’s home game and the Robbie came out on top with a very impressive 50% of the vote. He will be presented with his award by Castlereagh GSC officials on the pitch before Saturday’s home match with Institute.
Saturday 27 April 2019, Kick off 3.00pm.
On Saturday we play what can fairly be described as our most important game of the season so far. If we avoid defeat, we are in the Europa League play offs next month. Institute are two points behind us but although they have no UEFA license for next season, the play off place will not go below seventh place. So, it’s all or nothing
