Glentoran exited the Bet McLean League Cup at the Oval tonight with a whimper. It was a poor performance all round and it's difficult to take anything positive from the game.
As early as the 4th minute the warning signs were there; Ben Roy was allowed too much time on the left and his cross to the back post was almost turned in by Stuart McMullan.

Glentoran got back to winning ways in the u20 NIFL Premiership Development League last night after their recent defeat to St James Swifts in the Steel and Sons Cup with a 4-0 win over Crusaders at Seaview.
The young Glens were bolstered by the presence of 6 first team squad players for the game against a similarly strong Crusaders side for what was a highly competitive and entertaining fixture.

On Tuesday we continue our Bet McLean League Cup campaign when we welcome last season’s beaten finalists, Carrick Rangers to the Oval.
Curtis Allen's early goal was enough to secure all 3 points for Glentoran in their Danske Bank Premiership match away to Ards.
Following the wind down of the camera lights and the comprehensive defeat to Crusaders on Monday night, it was back to reality with a trip to the seaside to face Oval legend Colin Nixon’s Ards side.

On Saturday we look to bounce back from Monday’s comprehensive defeat by Crusaders when we travel to the Bangor Fuels Arena to play Ards for the first time this season.
Glentoran delivered a disappointing and lifeless performance on Monday night losing 3-0 at home to Crusaders. Pre match saw a large crowd and an air of excitement around The Oval with the Sky Sports cameras in attendance but the night soon fell flat for the home side as Crusaders dominated. Gary Haveron named the same 11 that drew with Coleraine 9 days previously and Crusaders, coming off consecutive home league draws, made two changes to their side with Heatley and Carvill replacing Glackin and Forsythe.

This Monday we play host to Crusaders for the first time this season. Depending on the outcome we can by-pass the Crues to move into fourth place. Anything other than a win and we will remain fifth in the table.
Elliott Morris – who on Monday night is expected to make his 660th first team appearance for the club – has been voted Glentoran Supporters’ Player of the Month for September.
