Glentoran 1 - 0 Portadown

Sat, 12/09/2015 - 17:18

Eddie Patterson’s five changes to the starting line up after last week’s debacle against Ballymena seemed to have the desired effect as Marcus Kane’s superb goal gave the Glens a thoroughly deserved three points at the Oval this afternoon.  Right from the off the home side showed more hunger than their opponents and were perhaps unfortunate not to go into the break with more than a one goal lead.

Glentoran v Portadown

Fri, 11/09/2015 - 08:40

Glentoran manager Eddie Patterson has demanded a reaction from his players ahead of their clash with Portadown at the Oval this Saturday.

Patterson questioned his side’s mentality after they threw away a one-goal lead and suffered a 1-3 home defeat to Ballymena United last week.

Curtis Allen’s early finish was not enough as goals from Matthew Shelvin, Matthew Tipton and William Faulkner helped the Sky Blues seal their first Premiership win of the season.

Poor Glens beaten by bottom side

Sat, 05/09/2015 - 18:08

Glentoran went into this afternoon's game at The Oval against Ballymena Utd searching for consistency following a mixed bag of results to start the 2015/16 campaign. Positive news in the team selection saw Ciaran Caldwell make his debut following last week's move from Glenavon and David Howland earned his first start in almost a year following a return from another severe injury. Glentoran changed tactics, operating a 4-3-3 with McAlorum joining Caldwell and Howland in midfield.

It’s match day 6 in the 2015-16 Danske Bank Premiership with Glentoran hosting Ballymena United at the Oval.

The Sky Blues come into the game occupying bottom spot in the table having picked up just 1 point in their league campaign to date. That came courtesy of a 1-all draw with Carrick Rangers. Glentoran, having lost on the opening day of the season at Coleraine, have 6 points from beating Warrenpoint Town and recording draws against Crusaders, Carrick Rangers and Glenavon.
