Warrenpoint Town 0-1 Glentoran

It was back to the future again as Roy Coyle stepped into the manager's role at Glentoran for today's trip to face basement side Warrenpoint Town. 

Coyle made just one change to the starting line up with Steven Gordon moving from midfield to right back and Conor McMenamin starting in place of George Gray. The formation though was 4-4-2 with McMenamin joining Curtis Allen up front.

Happy Birthday Bertie

Glentoran's oldest player, Bertie Wright, celebrated his 96th birthday this week.

Bertie, vice-president of the Glentoran Supporters Committee 1923, is still a regular attender and most Glentoran games, driving from hi home in Co Armagh to the Oval or travelling with his good friend Alex Richardson.

Glentoran begin life without Eddie Patterson as they travel to Warrenpoint Town tomorrow.

While the board look for their next appointment, Director of Football Roy Coyle will take charge of team affairs.

In the meantime, the attention will be diverted back onto the pitch tomorrow as the Glens are in contention to win two league games on the bounce for the first time this season.

Danske Bank Premiership strugglers Warrenpoint Town play host to the East Belfast side, and will be looking to capitalise on Glentoran’s distraction off the pitch. 

Glentoran 2-0 Carrick Rangers

Two late goals from Stephen McAlorum and Conor McMenamin gave Glentoran their second win over Carrick Rangers in the space of 4 days. Eddie Patterson made two changes from Wednesday’s league cup meeting between the two sides with Steven McCullough and the injured Jay Magee being replaced by George Gray and Marcus Kane.

Glentoran FC wishes to announce that Team Manager Eddie Patterson was this evening relieved of his responsibilities.

The Club wishes to thank Eddie for his commitment and contribution to Glentoran over the past 4 years.  He assumed the position at a period of serious challenge and transition for the Club and the 2 Irish Cup victories achieved during his tenure will ensure that Eddie has claimed a positive place in the long history of Glentoran.

Glentoran could add Premiership success to Wednesday’s JBE League Cup triumph as they encounter Carrick Rangers for the second time this week.


To Carrick's expense on Wednesday night, a Steven Gordon double and a Curtis Allen strike booked the East Belfast sides place into tomorrow evenings JBE League Cup quarter-final draw with a 3-1 win.


Substitute Brian McCaul scored the visitors’ only goal, while Elliot Morris saved a Conor McCloskey penalty.

Can all Glentoran and Carrick Rangers supporters attending this week's 2 matches between the clubs  please  be aware that due to roadworks access to Mersey Street from Dee Street will be unavailable. All access for vehicles will need to be via Severn Street (second left from Dee Street if exiting Sydenham By-Pass) then left along Yukon Street. Apologies for any inconvenience.
 
Pedestrian access will still be available as usual  through both ends of Mersey Street.
