Glentoran 2-0 Dungannon Swifts

Tue, 15/08/2017 - 23:55

Glentoran’s early season blend of speed and pressure proved too much for Dungannon Swifts on Tuesday night. Second half goals from John McGuigan and Curtis Allen were enough to give Gary Haveron’s men their second win in as many Danske Bank Premiership games. Haveron stuck with the same starting 11 from Saturday’s win at Ballinamallard, whilst Rodney McAree made three changes to his Dungannon side following their opening day defeat to Coleraine with Teggart, Harpur and Addis coming in for McElroy, Brennan and the suspended Coleman.

Tonight's Gazette

Tue, 15/08/2017 - 12:55

A new season and a new look for your multi-award winning Glentoran Gazette.  Our answer to Michael Parkinson, Eddy Patrick, has interviews with both players and fans, history men Brian McClelland and Roy Downes both have the first of two part stories looking back to the 1940s, there's a fan's view of our 50th anniversary trip to Detroit, Gary Haveron's thoughts on our opening day win at Ballinamallard and Philip Stevenson looks at a remarkable piece of memorabilia which includes the oldest Glentoran team photograph dating back to the 1880s.  All that plus a look at our opponents Dungannon S

Match Preview

Mon, 14/08/2017 - 22:58

On Tuesday evening we welcome Dungannon Swifts to the Oval for our first home game of the season.

Last season our form against Swifts was very mixed with two wins, a draw and a defeat late in the season that effectively handed Swifts the last place in the UEFA play offs.

For the new season Swifts will be without star men Andrew Mitchell (now Glenavon) and Jamie Glackin (Crusaders) but have added Ryan Mayse from Ballinamallard Utd (always a thorn in our side last season),  Liam McMenamin (ex Strabane Athletic) and Nathaniel Ferris (ex Portadown).

Thank You

Mon, 14/08/2017 - 22:23

The Northern Ireland Children's Hospice extends thanks to the supporters of Glentoran and Linfield who so kindly and generously donated to the bucket collection at the Oval prior to the Big Two Challenge Cup Game between the 2 clubs on 29th July 2017.

Under 19 Ladies Confirmed Champions

Mon, 14/08/2017 - 16:22

We have received confirmation from the NIWFA that Linfield Ladies have dropped their protest against their 5-3 defeat to Sion Mills, therefore Glentoran Ladies are 5 points clear with 1 game to play confirming them as Under 19 league champions.

Once the cup is presented we will get a photo of the squad alongside the well deserved trophy.

Congratulations Girls.

Ballinamallard Utd 1-2 Glentoran

Sat, 12/08/2017 - 21:44

Glentoran, who took just a solitary point from their 4 meetings with Ballinamallard United last season, deservedly left Ferney Park this afternoon with all 3.

Manager, Gary Haveron was without close season signing Dan Kelly with Kelly serving a one game suspension, carried over from last season. Calum Birney and James Ferrin lined up in the centre of the defence with skipper, Marcus Kane, moving into central midfield.
