Glenavon 1-1 Glentoran
There was plenty of optimism in the air as a large crown of Glentoran supporters descended on Mourneview Park this evening for the opening match of the Danske Premiership.

Dear GFC fans,
It is with greatest respect that I write this message on the eve of our 2019/20 campaign. I write this as I contemplate our past, our present and our exciting future.
Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that our captain, Marcus Kane has signed an extension to his current contract. That means Marcus is now committed to Glentoran until the end of the 2021/22 season.
Friday 9th August 2019, Kick Off 7.45pm
Another new season starts with a visit to Mourneview Park, scene of what was probably our best performance of 2018/19 with our 4-2 Europa League play-off win in May.
Our record in Lurgan is the complete reverse of our home record against Glenavon as we have had just one defeat in our last eleven league visits and no defeats there since April 2015. With a strengthened squad so far this summer, we will obviously be looking to continue that record with another win to kick off the league campaign.
Glentoran Women moved within two points of the top of the Danske Bank Women's Premiership tonight with a comfortable home win over Comber Rec. The scoring was led by Rachel Rogan with four and Kelly Bailie with two. Other scorers were Jessie Davis. Makayla Mulholland, Kerry Beattie, Danielle Maxwell, Vicky Carleton and Olivia Marshall.

On a beautiful warm sunny Sunday morning at Wilgar Park, Dundela opened its facilities to welcome the six sides that would compete for the Jimmy Black Memorial Challenge Cup, a 7 a side tournament in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Support.
Teams taking part were two from the Spirit of 82 NI Supporters’ Club, NI Fans XI, PSNI XI, Northern Ireland Masters and our own Glentoran Legends.
The club is delighted to announce that our young forward Ben Cushnie has signed professional forms and will be promoted to the first-team squad for the 2019/20 season.
Glentoran 2006 team capped a fantastic comeback in the Northern Ireland Supercup today, to qualify for the final with a 1-0 over Finn Harps.
The Story So Far:
The boys got off to a shaky start on day one of the tournament, losing 2-1 to Bertie Peacock against the run of play. This really put the Glens up against it as it usually takes three wins to top a Supercup group. Only first place in the group make the super cup proper.
Brendan Hamilton scored the goal in that match.
