Glentoran remain unbeaten in the Danske Bank Premiership after a 1-all draw with Ballymena United at the Showgrounds on Friday night but the really should have been heading back to East Belfast with 3 points instead of 1.
On the back of three well earned points against Lisburn Distillery last weekend, Glentoran will hope to build on that result with victory on our travels tonight at 7.45p.m against Ballymena Utd at the Showgrounds. With Both Coleraine and Cliftonville winning last weekend as well, The Glens remain in 3rd position in the table with 16 points from 8 games. We remain unbeaten with four wins and four draws so far.
As a result of the recent heavy rain tonight's County Antrim Shield tie against Linfield at the Oval has been postponed. The game has been rearranged for next Monday, 1st October, at the Oval with a 7.45pm kick off.
The draw for the 2012-2013 shirt sponsorship took place at the Oval after Saturday's game. The draw is as follows:
Prior to the start of today's Danske Bank Premiership fixture the flag was lowered to half mast as the officials, players and supporters of Glentoran and Lisburn Distillery observed a minute’s silence in memory of Noel, Graham and Nevin Spence who tragically lost their lives a week ago.
In the latest issue of the multi-award winning Glentoran Gazette, manager Eddie Patterson looks back at last week’s game against Coleraine and gives his view on Mark Clarke’s red card. Skipper, Colin Nixon also gives his opinion of the game and provides an update on his fitness, whilst his week’s player interview is with central defender, Jay Magee.
This Saturday, Glentoran legend Tim McCann makes his first return to The Oval since being appointed as manager of Lisburn Distillery in the summer. McCann who had two playing spells at the Oval made 281 appearances for the club and went on to be a member of the coaching staff after his retirement. For the last couple of seasons McCann was assistant manager to Scott Young before getting his break this summer in his first managerial role. Always a fan favourite, Tim will undoubtedly receive a warm reception on his return to his former home.

We welcome a few Glentoran Legends back to the Oval this Saturday in Tim McCann, Gary Smyth and Michael Halliday, along with their teammates and fans of Lisburn Distillery. Whilst all Glentoran supporters will welcome them 'home' the hospitality ends when the whistle blows at 3pm. Then it's down to business and hopefully 3 more points to our total!
