Glentoran mourns the passing of club legend Trevor Thompson

Glentoran is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Trevor Thompson, our all-time leading goalscorer and one of the greatest players ever to wear the famous red, green and black.

A true Glentoran icon, Trevor played for the club from 1956 to 1968, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that will forever be etched into the fabric of The BetMcLean Oval.

Honours even as Glens settle for draw against Larne

Glentoran had to settle for a point this evening in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Larne in the Sports Direct Premiership at The BetMcLean Oval.

Joe Thomson scored twice against his former club either side of half-time, however Larne hit back with goals from Paul O’Neill and a penalty from Andy Ryan to level the game.

Under dry but cold conditions in east Belfast it was the Glens that settled faster under the lights and fans only had to wait 11 minutes until their team made a breakthrough.

Thomson calls for Glens to seize crucial opportunity

Glentoran midfielder Joe Thomson insists the squad is fully focused on delivering a crucial result against Larne in Tuesday night’s crunch Sports Direct Premiership clash at The BetMcLean Oval (Kick-off: 7:45pm).

The Glens currently sit second in the table, three points ahead of third-placed Larne. A victory would open up a six-point gap to the reigning champions, while defeat would see Larne draw level with Declan Devine’s side in the race for automatic European qualification.

Glentoran deeply saddened by the passing of George Allen Thompson

Glentoran FC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player George Allen Thompson, who has passed away at the age of 95.

A talented and skilful outside-right, Thompson was first spotted by a Glentoran scout in the years following the Second World War while playing at youth level for the Boys' Brigade. He went on to enjoy a distinguished career with the Glens throughout the 1950s.

Glens held to goalless draw at Carrick

Glentoran had to settle for a point as their Sports Direct Premiership clash with Carrick Rangers ended in a 0-0 draw at Taylor’s Avenue.

Despite controlling possession for large periods and twice hitting the woodwork, Declan Devine’s side were unable to find a breakthrough against a well-organised Carrick defence.

The game’s first major talking point arrived in the third minute, when Ethan Boyle turned the ball home for Carrick, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside

Lindsay calls for statement performance as Glens head to Carrick

Glentoran midfielder Charlie Lindsay has challenged both himself and his teammates to step up and deliver a statement performance as they prepare for a crucial Sports Direct Premiership clash against Carrick Rangers at Taylor’s Avenue on Saturday (Kick-off: 3pm).

The Glens were last in action on Wednesday night, playing out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Glenavon at the BetMcLean Oval. Despite producing a spirited second-half comeback to overturn a two-goal deficit and take the lead, Declan Devine’s side were left frustrated as Glenavon struck back to deny them all three points.

Glentoran travel to Taylor’s Avenue on Saturday 15th March to take on Carrick Rangers in the Sports Direct Premiership (Kick-off: 3pm).

 

Supporter Information

Carrick Rangers have informed the Club that this fixture will be segregated. Glentoran supporters are required to enter via the away turnstiles on Prince William Way (see image).


Limited parking is available within close proximity to the turnstiles. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for arrival.

 

Harry Cavan Youth Cup Final - Ticketing Details Confirmed

The Irish FA has officially confirmed that tickets for the Harry Cavan Youth Cup Final between Glentoran Colts and Linfield Rangers at the National Football Stadium will go on sale at 1:00pm on Friday 14 March.

The final takes place on Sunday 30 March 2025 (kick-off: 2:00pm) as two of Northern Ireland’s top youth sides go head-to-head for silverware in one of the most anticipated youth football fixtures of the season.
