Annagh United 3-2 Glentoran

Wed, 31/08/2016 - 10:27

Glentoran went into this tie as massive favourites against the NIFL Championship’s bottom club, Annagh United and should have had it all wrapped up in the first 20 minutes! As well as dominating possession, the Glens created numerous chances but failed to take them and that wayward finishing ultimately proved to be their downfall.

Following tonight's 3-2 defeat to Annagh United in the League Cup, manager Alan Kernaghan tendered his resignation to the Chairman and it has been accepted.

A further statement will be issued in due course.

Match Preview

Mon, 29/08/2016 - 21:42

Glentoran travel to mid-Ulster to face Annagh United in the League Cup; kick-off 7:45pm.

The Glens will be looking to get back to winning ways following their very poor result and performance last Friday night at Coleraine in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Glentoran haven't lifted the League Cup since the 2009-10 season when we defeated Coleraine at Windsor Park. Another win is long overdue!

Glentoran Under 20s progressed through to the third round of the Toal's Bookmakers Steel and Sons Cup following a 2-1 win over Ballymena Provincial Intermediate side Brantwood.

The Glens freshened things up resting Paul O’Neill and Padraig Hughes who have seven goals between them in their opening four games.  That presented Mark Herdman the chance to start after patiently waiting in the wings.

Thu, 25/08/2016 - 16:06

Glentoran Under 20s continued their fine form in the Premiership Development league with a 2-0 victory over Portadown at The Oval.

In recent games the Glens were quicker off the block and scored early on but it wasn't the case against a Portadown side with 3 first team players in their back 4.
