Glentoran Seconds 0-1 Loughgall Reserves

Mon, 21/08/2023 - 22:00

A 56th minute goal by Daire Kelly cost a relatively experienced Glens team the points in this NIFL Under 20 Premiership game at the Bet McLean Oval.

Unlike last week at Inver Park, a number of senior squad players – Patrick McClean, Josh Kelly and Junior were given a run out to build up match fitness. Loughgall also took the opportunity to get valuable game time for a few first team players.

Lisburn Ladies 0-5 Glentoran Women

Sat, 19/08/2023 - 00:29

The Glens made the journey to the Bluebell Stadium in Lisburn this evening for the quarter final of the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup. The weather conditions were inhospitable from start to finish.

Kim Turner made 2 changes from last week’s 10-0 win over Larne. Annie Timoney was moved into ventral defence with Sarah Tweedie starting in Annie’s normal position at right back, while Ellie Scott returned in goal. In total there were no fewer than nine Northern Internationals in the Glentoran starting line-up.

Larne Olympic 1-1 Glentoran Seconds

Wed, 16/08/2023 - 23:22

A very young Glentoran Seconds squad with no players who had experienced first team action as Jonny Russell, Leon Boyd and Jordan Jenkins had been called up to the first team squad for Tuesday’s Sports Direct Premiership match at Loughgall,  earned a well-deserved point on their travels against Larne Olympic at Inver Park.

The young Glens were well on top in the first half and deservedly opened the scoring on 20 minutes when 15 year old George Feeney latched on to a long ball, he then rounded the keeper to finish in style.

Loughgall 0-1 Glentoran

Wed, 16/08/2023 - 00:07

Glentoran recorded their second league victory in Co. Armagh with a narrow 1-nil victory over newly promoted Loughgall thanks to a close range Daire O'Connor goal. It was a fully deserved victory and given Glentoran's dominance it could and should have been more emphatic. With Aidan Wilson missing through injury, club captain Marcus Kane came back into the starting XI playing alongside Luke McCullough in the centre of defence. Otherwise it was the same team which started against Larne last Friday night.
