Lisburn Ladies 0-5 Glentoran Women

Sat, 02/09/2023 - 00:02

Two wonder strikes from skipper Jess Foy and a double for top scorer Kerry Beattie led the way to a hard worked but ultimately comfortable victory over Lisburn Ladies in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership at the Bluebell Stadium this evening.

Head Coach Kim Turner was able to name the same starting line up for the third consecutive game. But it wasn’t an easy start for the Glens as a well organised and hard-working home defence managed to effectively block supply to Kerry Beattie for the first half hour.

Tomorrow's Gazette

Fri, 01/09/2023 - 12:32

Paddy McClean is the subject of Beth Stafford’s graphic which fronts the cover of Saturday’s 40-page Glentoran Gazette in which Warren Feeney reflects on THAT refereeing decision and on the performances against Crusaders and Ballymena United. We ask whether, after the recent flooding at the Oval, the Glens will face a battle in the bid to go plastic. And we detail why the NIFL Premiership has lost its place as the safest place in the world for managers.

Thu, 31/08/2023 - 00:26

On Friday evening Glentoran Women travel to the Bluebell Stadium, Lisburn to face Lisburn Ladies in the Sports Direct Ladies Premiership.

This will be the fourth time the teams have met this season and the third time at Lisburn. Glentoran won ties in the Toals County Antrim Cup and Electric Ireland Challenge Cup. In the previous league meeting, at Ashfield, a four goal first half burst from Rachel Rogan led the way to an 8-1 home win. The goals that night came from Rogan (4), Caragh Hamilton (2), Emily Wilson and a Kerry Beattie penalty.

NIFL signs up to Share the Road to Zero

Wed, 30/08/2023 - 19:11

The Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) is preparing to kick off conversations about road safety by pledging to ‘Share the Road to Zero’.

NIFL is a high profile signing for the initiative, which aims to reduce road deaths by encouraging all of us to think about our shared responsibilities, to be aware of our surroundings, and take more care when out and about.

Tragically, 46 people have lost their lives on our roads so far this year, compared to 32 this time last year.
