Danske Bank Premiership, Cliftonville V Glentoran

Friday 17th February 2017, kick-off 7.45pm.

This week we visit Solitude to play Cliftonville for the third time this season in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Although the Reds are currently five places above us in the table, honours are even in our meetings this season with one win each. We were beaten 2-0 at Solitude in August while second half goals from Nacho Novo and Steven Gordon turned around an early deficit into a 2-1 home win in October.

Presentation from Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923).

Wed, 15/02/2017 - 22:42

Prior to last weekend's Danske Bank Premiership fixture against Glenavon the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923) presented a cheque for £2500 to the parent body to assist with costs for training facilities.

The cheque was handed over by Jimmy Carter, Chairman of the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923) and Norman Ternahan (Glentoran Gazette) to Glentoran Chairman, Stephen Henderson and manager, Gary Haveron.

Glentoran 0-0 Glenavon

Sat, 11/02/2017 - 20:54

Glentoran and Glenavon played out a 0-0 draw on a bitterly cold afternoon at The Oval today. It was a game which both teams had chances to win but they failed to take them and neither manager is likely to be particularly happy with a point. Gary Haveron made four changes from the side which lost at home to Ballinamallard a fortnight ago as Birney, Harmon, O’Flynn and Caldwell were replaced by Ferrin, McAlorum, Smith and Gordon.

Danske Bank Premiership, Glentoran v Glenavon

Saturday 11th February 2017, kick-off 3pm.

Glentoran welcome Glenavon to the Oval for our third meeting in this season’s Danske Bank Premiership.
Glenavon are currently 6 points and 2 places above us in 6th place going into the game. However, head to head honours this season have been even with a 2-2 draw at the Oval under Roy Coyle in September (goals from Jonathan Smith and Steven Gordon) followed by 1-1 at Mourneview Park through a Jay Magee equaliser.

Obituary: Eric Graham

Tue, 31/01/2017 - 02:02

We are sorry to report the death of Eric Graham, a long standing member and past Chairman of the Cookstown Glentoran Supporters’ Club.

The Tyrone men are a fantastic example of committed supporters, making a minimum 90 mile round trip to East Belfast, week in and week out in all conditions and irrespective of team form. Eric has always been prominent among them and will be sadly and deeply missed by all of his travelling friends.

Current Cookstown GSC Chairman, Michael RJ Wilson said today:

Glentoran 0-1 Ballinamallard United

Sat, 28/01/2017 - 20:31

A defining day in Glentoran's season and probably in some of the players' Glentoran careers. With 6th placed Glenavon facing Crusaders and 7th placed Dungannon Swifts hosting Linfield it was likely that, with a victory, Glentoran could close the gap on the two teams immediately above them. Indeed as things turned out, a win would have left Glentoran just 3 points behind Glenavon with the Lurgan blues visiting the Oval in two weeks time.

Tomorrow's Gazette

Fri, 27/01/2017 - 19:24

Look out for another bumper edition of the Glentoran Gazette at tomorrow's game.  Our history men Brian McClelland and Roy Downes look back at Irish Cup controversy from almost a century ago and a more recent unsung hero, Philip Stevenson gets in on the act and compares our two American tours and there's a look at some of our dedicated volunteers around the Oval.  News, views, stats and photos complete yet another first class read.  Don't miss it!
