Match Preview - Glentoran v Coleraine

Glentoran v Coleraine

Saturday 18th August 2018, Kick Off 3pm

On Saturday we face one of the biggest challenges of the season with a visit from Irish Cup winners Coleraine.

Our record against Coleraine over the past couple of years has been a poor one as Saturday’s opponents have gone from strength to strength in both league and cup.  However we can take encouragement from our performance in the corresponding game last season when we were unlucky only to get a scoreless draw from the game.

Sam Byrne Joins Glentoran

Thu, 16/08/2018 - 19:18

Glentoran is pleased to announce the loan signing of Sam Byrne.

Sam (23) is a striker who joins from Dundalk and will wear shirt number 27. He originally joined Dundalk on loan from Everton in January and signed a permanent 18-month contract in July. So far, he’s found it tough establishing himself in a very strong Dundalk side (currently two points off the top of the SSE Airtricity League with two games in hand over leaders, Cork City) so has been offered the chance to play more regular football in the NIFL Premiership.

Another great Wednesday for Glentoran Women and Under 20s

Wed, 15/08/2018 - 22:32

Glentoran Women followed last week’s eleven goal rout of Portadown with a totally comprehensive 5-0 victory over Crusaders Strikers at Seaview. The Glens goals were well shared out and came from Demi Vance, Caragh Milligan, Ali McMaster, Nadene Caldwell and an own goal. This result means the Glens Women have leapfrogged the Crues to move third in the table.

Player Update

Wed, 15/08/2018 - 14:31

Daniel Kelly has been transfer listed following a meeting last night with manager Ronnie McFall.

Ronnie McFall said to Glentoran.com : " Dan is a good lad and a good pro but he's unlikely to get much game time with us this season. At his age its better for him to play as much first team football as he can so I've told him that if he can find another club he's free to leave Glentoran. I wish him all the best for his future".

Ronnie is actively continuing his pursuit of additional new players to strengthen the first team for the season.

Hillfoot GSC Awards

Sun, 12/08/2018 - 21:48

Saturday 11th August was the traditional Player of the Year Awards night at the Hillfoot Glentoran Supporters Club. Glentoran players and directors were made very welcome as always to one of our most hard working and dedicated supporters clubs.

The wards presented on the night were the Hillfoot GSC Glentoran Supporters' Player of the Year, and the Hillfoot GSC Glentoran Young Player of the Year.

Ards 0 - 2 Glentoran

Sat, 11/08/2018 - 17:38

Goals from John McGuigan and Curtis Allen gave Glentoran their first points of the season in a comfortable victory away to Ards.  Ronnie McFall named an unchanged starting eleven from last week's last gasp defeat to Cliftonville with new signing Lee Chapman taking his place amongst the substitutes.

Joe Crowe joins Glentoran

Fri, 10/08/2018 - 12:39

Glentoran is pleased to announce the signing of Joe Crowe.

Joe (20) is a defensive midfielder or central defender and joins after spending the second half of last season at Linfield.

Ronnie McFall said on Thursday evening after signing Joe: “I’m pleased to have got Joe and we moved pretty quickly after he negotiated his release from Linfield at the end of last week. He’s played over 40 games at a good level for Norwich City U23s and spent the second half of the 2017 season in the first team at Limerick City in the League of Ireland where he got plenty of game time.

Match Preview - Ards v Glentoran

Thu, 09/08/2018 - 23:03

Saturday 11th August 2018, Kick Off 3pm

On Saturday we stay in County Down with a visit to Bangor for our first away match of the season.

Last season we had a very uneven run of results against Ards, winning both away games but losing twice at the Oval.  On our last visit to Bangor we had a comfortable 4-1 win, including two penalties from Dylan Davidson. We'll be looking for a win this Saturday to kickstart the season after last week's injury time home defeat.
