Crusaders 0-1 Glentoran

Sat, 01/08/2015 - 17:55

Glentoran lifted the NI Hospice Charity Shield on Saturday at Solitude after a timid affair was won by a fantastic moment of brilliance from Jordan Stewart. Eddie Patterson, on holiday in Portugal, was not in the dugout so Tiernan Lynch stepped up as manager for the day. The Glens, who most recently defeated Donegal Celtic 2-1 on Tuesday night, named a strong line-up despite players such as Barry Holland, Conor McMenamin and David Howland unavailable for a variety of reasons.

McAlorum nets late winner

Tue, 28/07/2015 - 22:06

Glentoran travelled across town to face Donegal Celtic in the latest pre-season friendly fixture.

The DC keeper was in outstanding form throughout the game but a superb strike from Stephen McAlorum 5 minutes from time gave Glentoran a 2-1 win.

Danny McKee put the Glens in front on 11 minutes but the home side levelled on 19 minutes from a free kick. Right on half time Marcus Kane was unlucky to see his shot come back off the post. The Glens dominated the second period but the game looked like ending in a draw before McAlorum fired home.

Obituary - Ken Moody

Mon, 27/07/2015 - 22:00

The officers and members of Castlereagh Glentoran Supporter's Club are deeply saddened at the passing of our President, Ken Moody. Ken was a dedicated Glenman, his wife often noted that he spent more time at his beloved Oval than he did in his own home. He joined the Castlereagh Club in 1972 and served as Chairman during the 1980-81 season.
