Glentoran seal return of Jordan Stewart

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to confirm the return of Academy graduate Jordan Stewart, who has signed a two-year contract with the option of a third season.

The 30-year-old forward - renowned for his creativity, flair and match-winning ability - returns to the BetMcLean Oval 12 years after bursting onto the scene as one of the most exciting young talents in the Irish Premier League.

Kodi Lyons-Foster departs

Glentoran can confirm that defender Kodi Lyons-Foster will depart the club following the expiration of his contract. 

The club held discussions with Kodi in recent months and offered new and improved terms in the hope of securing his future at the BetMcLean Oval. However, he has informed us of his decision to move on and pursue a new opportunity elsewhere.

We thank him for his contribution and professionalism and wish him well in the next chapter of his career.

Wilson at the double as Glens extend perfect start

Glentoran Women continued their impressive start to the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Lisburn Rangers Ladies at the Blanchflower Stadium on Friday night.

Kim Turner’s side remain the only team in the division with a 100 per cent record after two rounds, and once again it was the club’s emerging young talent who provided the platform for success.

Teenager Mia Moore opened the scoring on 13 minutes, calmly slotting home after a sharp attacking move to notch her second goal in as many games.

Glentoran confirms player departures and transfer list updates

Glentoran can confirm that the following players will depart the club upon the expiry of their current contracts:
Fuad Sule, Wassim Aouachria, Finley Thorndike, Jay Donnelly and Niall McGinn.

We would like to thank each of them for their contribution to Glentoran and wish them every success in the next chapter of their careers.

In addition, Patrick McClean has been placed on the transfer list, with discussions ongoing with interested clubs.

Further updates will be announced in due course as part of the club’s ongoing strategic squad planning.

East (No.1) Limited increases shareholding

Glentoran Football Club can confirm that East (No.1) Limited has increased its shareholding from 85% to approximately 95%, as part of a long-term strategy to enable significantly greater investment in the club’s future - both on and off the pitch.

This follows the outcome of tonight’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), at which shareholders of GFC1882 Limited voted in favour of the proposed share transfer.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has hailed the Glentoran Social Partnership as a game-changer as the East Belfast club launches its 2023/24 Impact Report, revealing the delivery of an estimated £2.9 million in social value.

Delivered in collaboration with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation, the Glentoran Social Partnership has engaged more than 3,500 people through over 20 transformative programmes across the past two years.

Glens hit Lisburn for six in league opener

Glentoran Women got their 2025 Sports Direct Women’s Premiership campaign off to a flying start with a ruthless 6-1 victory over Lisburn Ladies on Friday evening at the Bluebell Stadium.

After a dominant opening period, the breakthrough came on 36 minutes when Kascie Weir latched onto a low cross from the left before driving a powerful effort beyond the Lisburn goalkeeper from the edge of the box.

Weir struck again just minutes later, this time calmly sliding the ball into the bottom corner after being played through on goal.

Glens bow out of European Play-Offs

Glentoran’s 2024/25 campaign came to a close on Wednesday evening as Cliftonville edged a closely contested European Play-Off Semi-Final 2-0 at The BetMcLean Oval.

The visitors, playing just four days after their Irish Cup Final appearance, struck twice in the closing minutes through Jack Keaney and Eric McWoods to seal their place in Sunday’s final.

Before kick-off, both teams paused for a minute’s silence in tribute to former Glentoran player-manager Peter McParland, whose passing was marked with great respect across the ground.
