Glentoran 0-2 Larne

Sat, 02/11/2024 - 20:45

Today's match at the Bet McLean Oval was a story of two penalties, questionable refereeing decisions, poor attacking play and aggressive flashpoints ultimately leading to the away side taking three undeserved points.

A minute’s silence was observed before kick-off to mark Armistice Day in the final home game before 11 November. We will remember them – always.

2 in a row for Big Dan

Fri, 01/11/2024 - 22:02

Congratulations to Daniel Gyollai on winning the supporters vote for Glentoran Player of the Month for October, his second win in consecutive months.

Dan kept 3 clean sheets in October and his performance in the first half of the Big Two game v Linfield put the team in a position to attack strongly after the break to go on and win the game.

Beth Stafford's latest movie themed cover has Finley Thorndike as the Glentoran Gladiator for tomorrow's Premiership clash with champions Larne.  Inside John Grayden looks at Transfermarkt's somewhat quirky valuations of local players as well as the recent debate on the relative strengths of the two leagues on the island of Ireland, while William James gives the lowdown on the climax to the season south of the border.  Henry Muldrew pays tribute to a Northern Ireland stalwart who started his career at the Oval, we have the second part of Brian McClelland's story of a Glentoran goalkeeper wh

Match Preview: Glentoran v Larne

Thu, 31/10/2024 - 22:29

Saturday 2nd November

Kick Off 3pm

Another big and exciting game in prospect this Saturday as Larne visit the  Bet McLean Oval in match 15 of this season’s Sports Direct Premiership.

Despite having several games in hand on all the teams above them and the understandable distraction of Group Stage European games, there is no doubt that back-to-back Champions Larne will be deeply disappointed with their league performance so far.

Coleraine 2-1 Glentoran

Sat, 26/10/2024 - 18:14

A crazy five minute spell in the last twenty minutes at the Showgrounds today cost Glentoran all three points and the opportunity to go second in the Sports Direct Premiership table.

Declan Devine made just one change today as James Singleton hadn’t fully recovered from a knee injury sustained against Carrick last week, but skipper Marcus Kane had recovered so started beside Frankie Hvid at centre back.
