Match Preview - Glentoran v Crusaders

Mon, 12/11/2018 - 23:30

Tuesday 13th November 2018, Kick Off 7.45

Tomorrow night we welcome Crusaders for the quarter final of the BetMcLean League Cup.

We clearly need to improve our record against Crusaders but maybe we can take a positive sign from the fact that the last time we beat them was in the semi final of the 2015 Irish Cup when Curtis Allen’s goal was enough to get us through at Mourneview Park.

Glentoran Remembers

Sun, 11/11/2018 - 00:30

The directors of Glentoran and Ballymena United today participated in a pre match Act of Remembrance at the Thomas Pearson M.M. memorial at the Oval to remember the fallen and to commemorate tomorrow's 100th Anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War One.

The service was conducted by the chaplain of Glentoran Football Club Rev. David Thompson with music of a lone piper of the Royal Irish Regiment.

Glentoran 0-1 Ballymena Utd

Sat, 10/11/2018 - 18:50

A goal after 14 minutes saw Ballymena Utd claim all 3 points in today's Danske Bank Premiership match at the Oval. Whilst the last few weeks have seen Glentoran on the wrong end of some bizarre refereeing decisions which cost us points, today we were probably flattered by the 1-nil scoreline; the visitors failing to convert a host of chances during the game.

Update for Saturday 10th November

Fri, 09/11/2018 - 22:00

Notice to Supporters:

Given the terrible weather conditions both earlier in the week and particularly this afternoon and evening, tomorrow's Danske Bank Premiership game v Ballymena United is doubtful and will probably be subject to a pitch inspection around noon.

Our groundsman, William Kirkwood has worked extremely hard to get the game on and pumps will be running throughout the night to try and clear the water from the pitch and surrounding area. Once again we commend William for his supreme efforts.

Match Preview - Glentoran v Ballymena United

Thu, 08/11/2018 - 22:36

Saturday 10th November 2018, Kick Off 3pm

On Saturday we welcome Ballymena United for our first meeting of the season.

United have had a great start to the season and sit 6 points ahead of us in third place. Last season’s league meetings ended in a win each and a draw for two very closely matched teams with the final league meeting a 2-1 away win at the Oval which condemned us to the bottom half of the table when a draw would have sufficed.

Cricky is Player of the Month

Wed, 07/11/2018 - 21:40

Cricky Gallagher has capped his first month in the Glentoran first team by winning the Supporters Glentoran Player of the Month vote for October

Cricky (19), who signed in September after returning from Shrewsbury Town,  figured in four of our matches in October after making his debut as a substitute away to Warrenpoint at the end of the previous month. He settled quickly and very effectively into our new look midfield, and had the maturity and confidence to take and score a penalty in the shoot out with Coleraine in the BetMcLean League Cup.
