Cricky is Player of the Month

Wed, 07/11/2018 - 21:40

Cricky Gallagher has capped his first month in the Glentoran first team by winning the Supporters Glentoran Player of the Month vote for October

Cricky (19), who signed in September after returning from Shrewsbury Town,  figured in four of our matches in October after making his debut as a substitute away to Warrenpoint at the end of the previous month. He settled quickly and very effectively into our new look midfield, and had the maturity and confidence to take and score a penalty in the shoot out with Coleraine in the BetMcLean League Cup.

Cricky said on being told of the vote: “The team has been playing really well recently so to be in the running for player of the month was brilliant and to win it is even better. I just want to say a big thank you to all the fans who voted. The support I have received during my first few months here has been top class and I appreciate it all.

I have really enjoyed my time here so far and long may it continue with the help of my team mates and staff.

To the fans, I will continue to work hard for the team each game in order to get us to were we need to be. Let’s stick together and get behind the team as your support is vital each week!”

Ronnie McFall had high praise for the player: “Cricky really deserves this. He has been outstanding since he came into the team, and has a big future ahead of him.  Glentoran are very fortunate to have him and I know he is well capable of going back to England”.

Cricky won a close vote with 39% of the vote to 36% for John Herron. Others on the shortlist were Curtis Allen and Ross Redman.

Congratulations Cricky.
