Glentoran continued their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign with a 2-1 victory over Glenavon on Tuesday evening in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
Joe Thomson opened the scoring early on for the Glens, finishing from close range after a positive start by the visitors.
Glenavon responded shortly after with an equaliser from McDaid, who capitalised on a loose ball in the area to bring the hosts level.
Liam Burt restored Glentoran’s lead before the break with a superb lob from 25 yards that beat the Glenavon goalkeeper.
Declan Devine used the second half to rotate his squad, introducing Cal Weatherup, Christie Pattisson, Callan Farley and Ciaran Rogers-Duffy as the Glens managed the closing stages.
The result ensures another positive step forward as pre-season nears its conclusion, with Limavady United next up this Saturday in the final outing before the new campaign kicks off.
