Cliftonville Olympic 0-3 Glentoran Seconds

Mon, 11/09/2023 - 23:44

A strong Glentoran Seconds team moved third in the league table with this comprehensive win over a strong Cliftonville line up at Solitude this evening.

The Glens were boosted by a number of first team squad members playing their way back to match fitness, with a particularly pleasing inclusion of Sean Murray for his first start at any level since 2nd January. They were also boosted by the return of Leon Boyd and Rhys Walsh from international duty with Northern Ireland U19s and with the return of 18-year-old Jonny Russell who has been doing so well with the senior squad.

Newry City 2-4 Glentoran

Sat, 09/09/2023 - 23:02

The Glens are joint top of the Sports Direct Premiership after hitting four goals at the Newry Showgrounds this evening. Injuries to Rhys Marshall, Aidan Wilson and Jay Donnelly meant manager Warren Feeney had to make several changes ahead of this evening's 5.30pm kick-off in South Down. Club captain Marcus Kane returned to his normal left-back slot with Bobby Burns returning in midfield and scorer of last Saturday's winner against Cliftonville, Niall McGinn, returned to the starting XI.

4 to go for Glens Women

Thu, 07/09/2023 - 00:20

With 4 games to go in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership, leaders Glentoran Women entertain ninth placed Ballymena United Ladies at Ashfield on Friday night (8th September).

As Cliftonville are away on European duty this week, the Glens will be looking to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 9 points, albeit the Reds would still have 2 games in hand.

Match Preview: Crusaders v Glentoran

Mon, 04/09/2023 - 22:56

Tomorrow night we cross the Lagan to play Crusaders at Seaview in the opening round of the Toal’s County Antrim Shield.

Last time we played Crusaders in the Shield was 7 years ago when a Stevie Gordon goal didn’t stop Glentoran losing to what was effectively a Crusaders – Premiership Champions at the time – second string. Our meeting before that was in the semi final in October 2010 when goals from Daryl Fordyce and Matty Burrows saw us through to a final where we beat Linfield 3-1 at Windsor Park, the most recent of the 26 occasions we’ve won the trophy.
