Owen O’Neill joins Lisburn Distillery on loan

Glentoran Football Club has announced that Academy graduate Owen O’Neill has joined Lisburn Distillery in the NIFL Premier Intermediate League on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The highly rated defender, who has signed his first professional contract with Glentoran, makes the temporary switch to New Grosvenor Stadium to gain valuable first-team experience in a competitive senior environment.

A commanding and composed centre-back, O’Neill made his competitive first-team debut for Glentoran in the 4-0 victory over Crusaders at the end of last season.

David Fisher commits future to Glentoran with new long-term deal

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce that forward David Fisher has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract extension, keeping him at the BetMcLean Oval until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The 23-year-old Londoner, who joined the Glens from AFC Wimbledon in 2023, has been a key attacking figure since his arrival in East Belfast, registering 21 goals in 66 appearances across all competitions. He has contributed seven goals and four assists so far this season while operating predominantly from the wing.

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce that defender Harry Murphy has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract extension and joined Sports Direct Premiership side Glenavon on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The 21-year-old has committed his future to The BetMcLean Oval until the end of the 2026/27 season. He makes the move to Mourneview Park to gain valuable first-team experience after spending the first half of the season as a member of Glentoran’s first-team squad.

Glentoran Football Club would like to express sadness at the passing of our former Caretaker Manager Kieran Dowd at his home in Cork..

Kieran joined the club as First Team Coach in the summer of 1971 at the invitation of then manager Peter McParland. Peter resigned after the second Ulster Cup game, so by the end of August 1971 Kieran was appointed Caretaker Manager. A position he held for 13 games until the appointment of Scotsman Alex McRae. Kieran remained on the coaching staff as the Glens went on that season to win the League title for the 15th time in the club’s history.

Thomson’s debut double sinks Loughgall

Joe Thomson had the debut that dreams are made of, with a double strike, as Glentoran came from behind to defeat Loughgall 2-1 in this afternoon’s Sports Direct Premiership tie at Lakeview Park.

Thomson, who joined the County Antrim Shield winners from Larne just this week, had a day to remember.

The midfielder scored a stunning equaliser before adding a penalty with just two minutes remaining on the clock. The Glens move to second in the table after today’s exploits.

Callan Farley joins Warrenpoint Town on loan

Glentoran Football Club has announced that promising young defender Callan Farley has joined NIFL Premier Intermediate side Warrenpoint Town on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The 18-year-old makes the move to Milltown to gain invaluable first-team experience, having spent the first half of the season as a regular member of Glentoran’s senior squad.

Farley made his competitive debut in an emphatic 4-0 victory over Crusaders and featured in the European Play-off semi-final against Coleraine at the end of last season.
