Tomorrow's Gazette

Fri, 03/11/2023 - 17:11

Events at Seaview unsurprisingly feature in tomorrow’s 40-page match programme when we argue that the application of common sense on the day would have resolved three major issues. And while Warren Feeney admits being pleased with the squad’s first half performance against Crusaders despite having to once again re-jig the team, he says if we had taken our chances the game would have been won before the horror injury to Bobby Burns. Feeno also warns that we will be taking Saturday’s opponents, Carrick Rangers, very seriously after losing to Stuart King’s side in September.

Player of the Month: Well Played Singo

Fri, 03/11/2023 - 13:20

James Singleton’s versatility, adaptability and great form in various positions has seen him win the supporters' vote as October Glentoran Player of the Month.

He played in 4 of our 5 games in October, initially in the unfamiliar role of right back then in his more accustomed left back before moving into defensive central midfield and played a major part in our renaissance after the poor September. He also captained the team when both Moko and Luke McCullough were injured, but whether he had the armband or not he led by example throughout.

Glentoran Seconds 2-0 Glenavon Reserves

Mon, 30/10/2023 - 22:35

A double from David Fisher – a second minute penalty and a clincher on 65 minutes – gave the Wee Glens a 2-0 win at Ashfield this evening in the NIFL U20 Premiership.

As well as the win was the good news that Harry Murphy completed 70 minutes as he continues his recovery, Ollie Webber kept a clean sheet and marshalled his defence very well and very encouragingly Aaron Wightman played for an hour, his first action since his injury at Newry on September 9th. All good news for Warren Feeney and his senior squad.
