GLENTORAN FOOTBALL CLUB IN ASSOCIATION WITH KUKRI BRING YOU THE GLENTORAN “130” SHIRT – DESIGNED, SELECTED AND MADE BY GLENTORAN SUPPORTERS .
On the 7th October 2012 Glentoran FC celebrate the 130th anniversary of the club’s first ever game played in Ormeau Park, Belfast in our famous red, green and black colours. To commemorate this historic milestone we have come up with a unique concept which we hope will involve Glentoran supporters and players alike.
Thanks to our friends at Kukri, Glentoran will take to the field for our Danske Bank Premiership clash against Portadown on October 13 2012 in a bespoke 130th anniversary shirt which will be worn once and only once by the team.
But here’s the twist. The Glentoran Gazette’s own Clifford Logan has produced six shirt designs acknowledging iconic kit styles from down through the decades. We want YOU to vote on your favourite shirt for the team to wear on October 13th. The winning design will go into production at Kukri’s headquarters here in Northern Ireland and will be manufactured by Glentoran supporters in yet another first.
You design, You choose, You create.
Only 130 of these shirts will EVER be made. Aside from 16 manufactured for the first team, 114 shirts will be available for purchase by Glentoran fans as a highly sought after piece of memorabilia. The shirts created through the process of sublimation which incorporate the badging, event details and squad numbers ( where applicable) allow us to create limited edition branding i.e. each shirt will be numbered 1/130, 2/130 etc. on the sleeve panel.
So how do you vote?
Each of the six shirt designs can now be viewed on the official Glentoran page on Facebook. All you have to do is “Like” your favourite design on the page. All six designs will be on display at various locations around the Oval tomorrow prior to the game against Linfield. Those without internet access will also have the opportunity to vote, with the figures combined at the close of the poll. The poll will close at midnight on Tuesday 4th September 2012.
The winning design can then be pre-ordered from Wednesday 5th September 2012 in co-operation with Ruth and her team at the Glentoran Superstore. These eye catching historic shirts are priced at £60 each with funds raised by the project earmarked to assist the management team maintain Glentoran’s challenge for honours this season.

As an extra incentive for one lucky “130” shirt owner in conjunction with Kukri we are giving a supporter the opportunity to push the start button on the production of their own shirt here in Northern Ireland. The winner can have a member of the current squad or a legend from a bygone era come join them in the production process.
