Sat, 02/02/2019 - 23:12

We regret to announce the passing of our former Safety Officer, Tommy Campbell who passed away on Friday morning. He was 72.

Tommy was a fixture around the Oval for most of his life, becoming a Steward in 1964 and then serving as the club's Safety Officer.

In October 2014 the club made a presentation to Tommy to mark his 50 years of voluntary service to Glentoran and his family accompanied him to the boardroom to receive a gift from the Chairman.

The funeral service for Tommy Campbell will take place on Tuesday 5th February 2019 at 11.00am in Orangefield Presbyterian Church followed by committal at Redburn Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Alzheimer's Society or N.I. Hospice (donations directly to charity please).

On behalf of the President, Chairman, Board of Directors, Staff, Players and supporters of Glentoran Football Club, we extend our deepest sympathy to Tommy's wife Margaret, children Carol & Thomas and their families and assure them that they are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.

Tommy will be greatly missed, particularly by those who worked alongside him as Stewards and Safety Personnel at the Oval on match days.
