Glentoran v Ballinamallard United

Tuesday 6th February 2018, 7.45pm.

On Tuesday night we welcome Ballinamallard United to the Oval for our rearranged Danske Bank Premiership match. We do so on the back of our promising 4-0 Irish Cup win at Ballyclare on Saturday. We all hope that comprehensive win gives the players the confidence boost needed to drive our push for a top six finish and further cup success.

Ballinamallard come to the Oval still at the bottom of the table, having won just two of their 26 league games so far.  We can’t afford any repeat of our draw at Ferney Park three weeks ago when only a late equaliser from James Knowles prevented a 2-1 defeat. We will need to show form more like that in the opening day when two goals from Curtis Allen won us the match at Ferney Park. In fact Curtis has a very healthy record against these opponents, having scored ten times against Mallards in his four years at Glentoran. As we returned at the weekend to the system employed when we performed more strongly at the start of the season, then we will hope Saturday’s performance will have heralded the Glens turning the corner.

Glentoran.com has no knowledge of any injuries sustained at the weekend. Skipper Marcus Kane left the pitch with a slight toe injury but the other two substitutions were tactical. This page will be updated if we receive more information.

The Board of Directors at Glentoran Football Club would again request that all supporters travelling to the Oval by private car consider the local residents when deciding where and how to park.
